Title: Editors? Live?
Post by: Ishotdanieljohnston on 04 Jul 2007, 00:45
The editors are coming my way in august. Ive never been a big fan- thought they were trying to steal interpol's thunder a bit.

Wondering if they're a worthwhile live act in any way. It's a $50 ticket- so thoughts...

Based on footage, they're better live than they are on record. However their singer's voice is virtually non-existent in a live setting. It's clearly not powerful anyway and the exertion he puts into it means he can't hold a clean note in the fast songs.

She Wants Revenge, authors of such ever so original tunes as "Tear You Apart" and "Lost Control"

hahaha that's great.
Nah, I don't think editors are a  good band by any means, only vaguely enjoyable.

I was just wonderin if they make for a worthy night out.

I don't think I will go though- not worth 55 hard-earned bucks.

"Munich" and "Bullets" were really great sequels.

Also Tommy you know the JD comparison is lazy with Interpol, man. At least put some effort into it.

So . . . You've heard their music, you don't really like it, the ticket is FIFTY DOLLARS . . . and you're wondering whether you should go?!

Why? So you can say you were there??

Basically, yeah.

I dunno, I was wondering if there was something I was missing, if in fact maybe they just don't sound as good as they really are on record...

anyway I haven't given them a good listen... someone could give me some amazing insight that would make there music suddenly amazing and worth the price.

Dont even lie, you like them but you want to keep your Indie Cred intact.

Anyway, yeah I liked the album but it was one of those albums that the second I stopped listening regularily to it I had no ambition to go back and give it another spin, kind of the same way I see the movies Little Miss Sunshine, or the Borat movie.  But I heard somewheres the The Editors have a new album out that is better than the first, so like, chew on that.  I dont want to say too much since I havent heard it (or heard of it for that matter) except from one friend.

I'd probably do it, I paid a similar amount to go see Maximo Park (who similarly have a back catalogue consisting of one awesome single, a couple of toe-tappingly ok ones, and a goodly percentage of filler) and that turned out ok. Then again my attitude to gigs is always 'if unsure, just go' so yeah, not much help here.

$50 dollars is way too much to see Editors.

Yeah, if it were cheaper I would say go, but definitely not over $50.  I refuse to pay that much money for a show.
