Hey guys, I'm making a mix CD for my boyfriend's birthday. If this was just a normal mix CD I wouldn't be so bothered (ask Emilio, he got my last attempt at a mix), but as it's a present, I need help. Below is what I have so far, but I need suggestions for more tracks or on which tracks to remove. It's quite lovey-dovey, so I think I need to add in some more playful/funny tracks. Thanks for your superior knowledge of music guys.
1.Fell down the stairs-Tilly and the Wall
2.I wanna be your dog-Uncle Tupelo
3.Sing you a love you song-Of Montreal
4.Take a chance on me-Rough Silk (cover)
5.Anxious Arms-The Jealous Sound (possibly to be replace with Hope for us)
6.Touch-Bright Eyes
7.Yesterday never tomorrow-The Stills
8.Come what may-Moulin Rouge
9.Head over feet-Alanis Morisette
10.Love is a place-Metric
11.Mushaboom-Feist (possibly to be replace with My moon, my man)
12.Under the milky way-Grant Lee Philips (cover)
13.Sweet Avenue-Jets to Brazil
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why would you have a cover of "Under the Milky Way" when the original is just perfect?
Also, for something both lovey-dovey and playful/funny, try "A Chicken With its Head Cut Off" by the Magnetic Fields.
Man, I'm recommending a lot of Magnetic Fields for mixes lately.
-
I just suggested Nothing Matters When We Are Dancing, actually
-
So basically what we're saying is that every mix conceived from hereon in has to include at least one song from 69 Love Songs? I'm okay with that!
-
i am halfway to being convinced that 69 Love Songs made any sort of romantic-esque mix redundant.
-
Are you only half-way convinced because of all those mordantly depressing (but beautiful) songs near the beginning of the first disc, like "I Don't Believe in the Sun", "All My Little Words", "I Don't Want To Get Over You" and "I Think I Need a New Heart"?
-
It has to do with the existance of Beulah and Modern English. Not to derail the thread further but i've alwayus thought that 69 Love Songs is odd in the sense that so many are not actually love songs. Some are songs about being in love, some are songs about love, some are about how not being in love or being in love with someone who isn', some are about things people who are in love do, some are about doing things out of love and so on, but very few are actual love songs. All My Little Words is my favourite one, by the way.
as for the topic at hand, i suggest "I Melt With You" by Modern English and "If We Can Land a Man on the Moon, Surely I Can Win Your Heart"

2.I wanna be your dog-Uncle Tupelo
I'm sure there is a perfectly good reason for this... but what is it?
Although I guess the stooges version isn't half as romantic.
I would suggest postal service - such great heights, but I would suggest that song for everything lovey-dovey. Even if it might be a bit overplayed.

This (http://www.box.net/shared/03i6cauksh) is one of my favorite love-y songs of all time.
-
Jumping onto the Magnetic Fields recommendations, I like "Love is Like a Bottle of Gin" and "Let's Pretend We're Bunny Rabbits" as well as "Nothing Matters When We Are Dancing".
Bus Stop by The Hollies is a fun song, if you don't mind mixing in older songs. (Most of the love songs I know/like are 20+ years old. Oops.) Also When I'm 64 by The Beatles is a fun one. If you want something more recent, Stickshifts and Safetybelts by Cake.

Leave the Alanis song, it shows character and an individuality tommy would love to wipe out.
Also, for real that Uncle Tupelo cover is one of my top 10 love songs ever.

Add some Beastie Boys.
