Title: When referring to TASTE in music, the only flavour is cheesy. why?
Post by: just-another-andy on 28 Jul 2007, 19:22
It was a thought that occured to me while walking home under the stars just a couple of hours ago (it's 3 am here)

Like I said, when we're referring to the TASTES in music the only real reference there is...is cheesy. Why?

Why don't we have Coconuty music?

Is it because you either love or hate the taste of cheese?

I'll let you decide.

Not to mention bitter or sour.

No salty!  I suppose sea chantys might fit there though.

Then there's music that has no flavour.  Like Coldplay.  Although... is vomit a flavour?

Perhaps it's linked to having synesthesia?  Being ablt to hear taste and whatnot?

This could be bad if you were a reviewer who was lactose intolerant and had forty albums of power metal to listen to.

Surprisingly, very little music with "syrupy" strings goes well with pancakes.

The highest praise I can offer to a record or song is that it is delicious. I don't really feel the need to narrow this down to specific flavours, that is just crazy.

i often refer to music as "juicy" but i think that's more of a texture than a flavor. oh well, i count it.
