Title: How to cheaply get my hands on UK released albums in US?
Post by: SleeperCylon on 16 Aug 2007, 11:51
Next week Richard Hawley's releasing a new album, and the week after that the Super Furry Animals.  I want them, but I don't want to wait months and months for the US release date.

I used to be able to find imports at Tower (Like, I found Silent Shout there in March, and it got released here in July), but now that Tower's gone I don't know where to look for imports.

How can I get them without having to pay like $30?

Take enough sleeping pills to last until the US release date.

I don't think there's any other way...other than asking some English folk here if they're planning a US trip soon, and if they wouldn't mind bringing you said Compact Discs.

Or eBay like a hawk.

I was actually considering the 'Download now, then buy it when it comes out in the US' route.  That way I avoid any moral issues, because I'm not actually getting something for free.  I'm just not paying until they let me.

I would really love to find out how to get US released CDs in the UK.

All the stores here seem to have some sort of Canadian prejudice-there's NO Metric or Tegan and Sara CDs. (I really want to get the re-release of Grow Up and Blow Away.)

I am Canadian, and I wish we had a prejudice against Tegan and Sara here. They are ear rot. Grow Up and Blow Away is pretty good though....perhaps order from Arts&Crafts directly?

And as for the differing release dates by country...I'd just wait it out, if it was something that I intended to buy in the first place. Anticipation makes finally getting the album that little bit sweeter. But that's me.
