Hi all,
Sometimes every song on the radio seems to be a sad one, and every record is about broken love. I need some happy music to listen to, and would be profoundly grateful for any reccomendations.
thanks,
enger

Happy music is overrated!
Try Bowling for Soup. They're kinda weird, though... like, really. But their music IS happier than most. Heck, they've played at Disneyland, if that tells you anything.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Self-Titled
Oh No! Oh My! - Self-Titled

Yes, my recommendation is that you go and view the thread posted above, which is pretty much the same subject as this. I think there are a lot of great suggestions for happy stuff in that thread. Prolly don't wanna resurrect the thread though, as it has been dead for a few days and most likely smells pretty bad by now.

Thanks for the link, I do appreciate.

If there is going to be a thread where I don't recommend 'Mass Romantic' by the New Pornographers, it hasn't happened yet.
There was that one thread where you recommended hawkwind

Oh No! Oh My! - Self-Titled
No way dogg, the best track on that record is about killing yourself.
Try anything by Junior/Senior.
-
Listen to the Beatles you stupid.
-
don't listen to kieffer. Half of what he says is meaningless
-
So you should only pay attention to "Listen to The" or "Beatles you stupid" depending on your point of view
-
you could also brush up on you Beatles, silly sod.
-
i'm having fun with the new apples in stero at the moment
-
I would say the Go! Team are pretty happy.
Architecture in Helsinki also, btw.
-
The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? is pretty much one of the happiest cd's i've ever heard.
-
R.E.M.'s album Out of Time has some pretty happy songs on it. Good luck finding it in mp3 format though. I couldn't.
-
That thing about the mp3s is a joke right?
OP dude - if you can listen to all 7 minutes of 'Shrimp' by Mr Scruff and not be happy, you're probably not human. Cliche woo! but so true.
-
I seriously couldn't find it on Limewire.
-
Want upload?
-
That album has so many depressing songs!
-
You should check out some stuff by Xasthur.
-
At this point I am once again forced to post the link to the fan-made video for Devin Davis's "Giant Spiders" and advise you to shut your eyes and just listen to the music.

Edguy. Seriously, it feels lame, and almost embarrassing at first, but its very uplifting and happy. There is humor and all the music just feels jolly. the songs New Age Messiah, Rise of the Morning Glory, Fairytale, Lavatory Love Machine, Life and Times of a Bonustrack, Painting on the Wall, and Out of Vogue are all great starting points. Be disgusted all you want at the suggestion, but seriously, once you get past the "cheesy 80's" thing, its very cheerful stuff. I listen to it all the time after I finish working at my depressingly shitty retail job, and instantly it does the trick.
-
So you should only pay attention to "Listen to The" or "Beatles you stupid" depending on your point of view
Well you could also concievably pay attention to 'Listen to Beatles' or 'The Beatles, stupid' or 'to the you.'
-
That album has so many depressing songs!
"Shiny, Happy People"?
-
"Country Feedback"?
-
Jeph's pretty much right about Junior Senior, but I have a soft spot for playing Daft Punk's "One More Time," as loud as f#&ing possible.

john frusciante!
absolute genius

Maritime - We, the Vehicles
There's something about this album that just causes joy. I don't really know what it is.
-
Of Montreal, especially The Sunlandic Twins
And if listening to a stoned guy making music appeal you, John Frusciante
-
Of Montreal, Junior Senior, Final Fantasy... all good choices.
-
I wouldn't say Architecture in Helsinki is "happy"...most of their songs have a kind of dark irony to them. Remember "The Cemetery"? Or even more so, parts of "Neverevereverdid."
-
energy - apples in stereo
it will instantly make you happy.
-
Little Cloud- Incredible String Band
The happiest 4 minutes ever recorded.
-
I love Final Fantasy, but I wouldn't call it happy. Brilliant, but not happy.
I'm From Barcelona is pretty ridiculously happy, as is the Go! Team
-
The Shins! The Shins makes me happy...
Ooh. Or They Might Be Giants. They're so nonsensical it's funny!
-
*braces for hate*
Pretty much every ska song ever.
Pretty much.
Jimmie's Chicken Shack
Reel Big Fish
Streetlight Manifesto
Less Than Jake
etc.
If you're thinking a bit more mellow, you might want to listen to Slightly Stoopid, Sublime, or Pepper.
-
Limewire.
I found your problem.

john frusciante! black emperor
