Surprised nobody's talking about this yet. I bought Andorra on vinyl yesterday - it comes with one free digital download but I'll likely just torrent it later anyways. So far the first side is fantastic sun-kissed glitch-pop. While retaining some of the Krautrock obsessions of his previous disc, it reaches into almost a sixties folk mindset at times. I recommend it pretty highly, especially since Dan Snaith may be signed to Merge but he's still one of their more under-the-radar artists.

Wrong forum, mayhaps?
Yeah. Now I just look like an asshole.
-
I love Caribou, I'm gonna have to check this out. Admittedly I don't keep as up to date on my electronica so I had no idea this was out.
-
Ah, the problem is that I'm typically simultaneously surfing all four sub-forums that I post in whenever I'm on.
Maybe you look more like a dick cause you aren't talking about the record.

You know, it would be pretty 'keen' ( I KNOW!) if someone could upload it to the sendspace thread...
I'm not suggesting anything really, it would just be nice.
I plan on picking it up when I'm not broke, and am aching to hear it.
Johnny, please describe.

Excellent record.

Uploading now, expect a link in a few minutes...

Thanks Misconception.
I'll edit this with my thoughts tomorrow.

I love this album. The percussion is incredibly cool.
..I don't believe I have anything more constructive to say. Sadly.
-
Haven't really gotten into it yet, but maybe it'll grow on me.
-
The first track is the best thing.
Awesome CD.

The first track is the best thing.
Yeah, I second that
Great album though
-
I don't know, I love Sundialing and Niobe, too, although Melody Day is probably the strongest track on there. Love the album.
-
Awesome CD.
I bought Andorra on vinyl yesterday

i've been listening to a lot of caribou lately, and this definately is more folksy and more instrument-driven as a whole than previous albums. the beauty of caribou/manitoba is that his sound is always evolving. i love andorra and it will take me until the next album comes out to unravel everything he has put into the record. and then we all get to do it again!

I bought it on cassette.

Good for you! I don't have a record player so I didn't. :)
-
See the point is that it's an awesome album.
I'm sorry to be such a pedant but there have seriously been so many threads in the last month calling albums "CDs" and it's obnoxious considering they're available in other formats. It's really good on vinyl as well.
-
I'm more pragmatic than pedantic. It's blindingly obvious what people mean by 'CD' anyway, but for those who have trouble, get 'album' down to two keystrokes for me and I'll join in.

The Internet really needs T9.

When I'm listening to Andorra it's sort of like this.
"Hey, this sounds nice."
*I get absorbed in whatever else I'm doing*
*Thirty minutes later*
"Oh yeah, there's music playing isn't there. ...This sounds nice."
The record for some reason completely fails to grab my attention.

My attention was grabbed. I am happy that I ordered the album now. To give Dan Snaith his due makes me happy I spend money on music.
