Title: New post Sleep wins metal albums of the year

the new high on fire (death is this communion) is the best metal album i've heard this year if not some of the best sludge/stoner doom i've heard other and the new om which has just leaked (pilgrimage) is jsut as good as conference of the birds was must have albums...

New Om leaked? Hells yes. Getting that now. I was also very impressed by the new High on Fire, though personally I think the best metal album of the year is Nadja's Touched.

High on Fire is so much win.

I don't know if I'd say metal album of the year yet for Death is this Communion, but it is pretty great.

I really want to hear the High On Fire album now.  Especially as I may see them soon, since Mono are opening, and I've never heard a note of their music.

It's a pretty good album. I've heard a lot about it, but all I can think of it is that it's "pretty good". I might need to give it a few more spins though.

Has anyone listened to the new Cephalic Carnage? I keep hearing good stuff about it.

"Dog Magic" by Zoroaster is definitely top 5 material.  I heavily recommend it and I might rate it over "Pilgrimage" if I keep liking it as much as I liked it the first time I listened to it.  I can Sendspace thread it if you guys like.

EDIT: just listened to it again for good measure.  Fucking awesome.  Heavy contender for best metal album this year, although I'm giving the Baroness a first listen right now and it's sounding pretty damn good.

I'm definitely uploading Dog Magic, though, it's required listening for this thread.

I own First, and have practically worn it down. Kickass EP. I also managed to catch them live over here across the pond. As a live act, they kick ass!

I'm also buying this the minute I get paid. "Blessed Black Wings" is just such a badass album, so I trust them to put out something really good, ie. i'm not bothering with the download.

You uploaded Touched in the Sendspace thread and it is definitely one of my favourites of the year.
