It was quite good. I liked The Kite Runner better, although I'm not really sure why.

I tried to read The Kite Runner and I thought it was pretty much trash.  Descriptions bored me, dialogue was unimaginative, he kept using "said."  The overall writing just seemed really weak, and left me with no urge at all to continue reading it.  Maybe I'll try A Thousand Splendid Suns though.  We'll see.  I'll wait to hear some more reactions on it though.

EDIT:  Apologies for the spelling mistake

Did you read the same version of the book as everyone else? I would hardly call the reading 'weak' (try to avoid the unintentional irony of writing 'week' instead of 'weak' when talking about writing you see as sub-par). I thought The Kite Runner had some very vivid descriptions, a strong plot, and great characterization. Sure, the guy's no Garcia Marquez or McCarthy or Faulkner but he definitely knows what he's doing and call tell a damn good story. I have yet to pick up the new one, however. I'll wait for the paperback edition.
