Title: Lars and the Real Girl
Post by: michaelicious on 29 Oct 2007, 19:22
This (http://www.apple.com/trailers/mgm/larsandtherealgirl/trailer/) movie seems pretty adorable. Anyone else excited to see Ryan Gosling with a moustache?

When I read about this a while ago I thought it sounded a little creepy, but the trailer really makes it look good, and cute also, therefore I will be watching it at some point. Also Ryan Gosling is okay by me, mustache or not.

I don't actually know if I will ever see this movie, though it is playing in the local theater

My friend saw this and said it was probably one of the most perfect date movies ever. I don't know if that means it's good or not but 'cute' is surely apt.

I am set to have a date with a very pretty lady, and had been looking for a movie to see on said date. I am bad at this.
So thank you, forums, for reminding me about this cute comedy, and not making the blunder of taking a ladyfolk to "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford".

heheh. I remember, watching television with my roommate, a commercial for this movie came on, and when it finished, he turned to me and asked
"was that Angelina Jolie?"
There was a brief moment of silence, followed by my bursting into laughter.
He kind of missed the point.

Well, they both have Paul Schneider in them. I'm sure this would be a cuter film to see on a date, but on the other hand, if you went and saw the Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and she was totally into the film, then it'd be obvious she's a keeper.

I really want to see that movie, so I guess I am a keeper! Now all I need is to find someone that also thinks that, which has proven more problematic than expected.

I saw it last night (assuming we're still talking about Jesse James). It's amazing. Moody and contemplative and stately, and I never got bored for a single second. Apparently the original version was four hours long, which has me hoping and praying for a full-length D.V.D. release. I came out the cinema feeling the same way I feel after seeing something by Tarkovsky.

Interesting update, she decided she'd rather see Jesse James.

Goddamn thats a fine woman.

So, when it's the documentary about real men who own Real Dolls, you guys are all "OMG SO DEPRAVED AND SAD" but when it's a quirky indie rom-com you're all "AWWW HOW CUTE".

Srsly guys.

I thought the documentary was hilarious, and interesting, and I am hoping the movie is the same. I'm not all "Aww, how cute! Me and my boyfriend should see this together because it is a cute adorable date movie," I'm more "Interesting. My boyfriend and I should go see this because we both thought the Guys and Dolls thing was hilarious and odd and interesting."

It was a sad movie. I didn't cry, but the lady I was with did.

Also, she fell asleep during it a few times, so her response might not be the best measure of the movie.

I liked it, though.

I would very much like to derail this thread to talk about Jesse James because it never came to my town and I am tremendously sad about this. Could someone make a thread about it so I can post in it eventually?
