Can anyone recommend me any good rock bands? I'm thinking of bands from the 1950s to present time, tending to, though not necessarily having a heavy rock and roll sound.
I realize this is a bit of a narrow request, please go easy on me.

chuck berry
-
Let's narrow it down a bit more to "artists who have not placed hidden cameras in women's restrooms."
-
No.
-
The answer is Journey.
-
The judges will also accept Meat Loaf

So I guess this means that Kraftwerk are out?
-
What rock bands do you already like? What specific styles of music are you looking for? We need to know these things before we can seriously answer.

That rules out anyone possibly worth listening to.

Towers of London are a joke. I accidentally ended up at a gig of theirs (don't ask) - it was hilarious for all of 3 minutes. Then it got old, and I realised they were taking themselves seriously.
I recently got into Mastodon, however, despite not generally listening to much heavy stuff, and they rock.
I've not got much else in the way of suggestions right now, though, without any more specific details about what you want.

This was a parody of the 'Metal, Anyone?' Thread I reckon.
-

bingo

AC/DC
-
I'm going to say that it didn't work.
Indeed, it was pretty obnoxious to try and parody a fairly informative thread.
-
I'll be honest with you, I love his music. I do! I'm a Michael Bolton fan. For my money, I don't know if it gets any better than when he sings 'When a Man Loves a Woman'.

If you mean "informative" in that it gave people the opportunity to post massive lists for the umpteenth time, then yeah, you're right.
-
No, I meant informative in that it gave people an extremely wide list of band names to fire into google/last.fm/wikipedia/soulseek and pick out what appeals to them.
There's something interestingly self-conscious about the way you're looking at that thread, and even the exercise of recommending bands.
Wait, shit, I'm getting all pop-psychology on your ass. Ignore.
BAD attitude.
-
Man, you're over-analyzing this. I just think the thread is silly.

He could learn a thing or two from that song Atom.
-
Also, mastodon is seconded.
No, John, I will never listen to and enjoy Mastadon. Ever
-
No matter how hard I try I will never be able to put Johnny Cash and Mastodon in the same category , it just seems to be a crime against the title "rock".
-
Mastodon
That's much better
-
Since when did it become okay to act like a dick on this board? Oh wait, it's not.*
Parody threads are idiotic, even if they ARE making fun of yet another list-of-bands thread.
*Unless you're me.
