Did anyone else catch the premiere?
I thought it was excellently entertaining. Definitely at about the level of acting and writing I expected it to be.
All it was missing was a governator cameo.
-
This hasn't started screening in Australia yet. However, I have seen ads for it and
All it was missing was a governator cameo.
this is demonstrably false. All it appears to be missing is Linda Fucking Hamilton. Making a Terminator movie without her was bad enough, but how anybody could possibly conceive of green-lighting a whole T.V. show centred around a character without the actor who absolutely defined that character is beyond me. Imagine somebody making Alien: the Ellen Ripley Chronicles without Sigourney Weaver.
-
Isn't Linda Hamilton, I dunno, a little past her "prime"?
Though, Sigourney Weaver has aged quite nicely.
-
it was great. it got me back into the whole terminator mythos for the first time since i was a little kid. i can't wait to watch the continuation tonight! :)
plus, summer glau = KICKASS!!!
-
When I saw her, I freaked out and was like, "Holy crap, she was in Angel and Firefly, but she's so much hotter now."
Maybe I have a thing for robots.
Edit: fixed. Thanks for reminding me.

Fixed.
I missed last night's because we forgot to change the channel when 9:00 rolled around, but I am definitely watching this tonight.
-
She was in a single episode of Angel. The one where they went to the ballet and time was frozen in place.
But not really worth mentioning compared to Firefly.
-
I caught it. I am ashamed to say I never saw any of the movies (though I saw part of the second one), but whether it was good or not,
River Ta Summer Glau got a chance to kick ass, and that is all I need. She does crazy people well, apparently.
-
I told my dad that he had to watch it since I went down to work to gain access to the internet to try and get my class schedule working.
He called me and was like "Holy shit, little River has Boobs now!"
He tivoed it and dumped it into my inbox. It was enjoyable for a TV pilot

Watching it right now.
I didn\'t like the movies but I really like this. Then again, I could probably watch Summer Glau read the phonebook for an hour and love it.
Oh man is she good in this, even if she is basically just a robotic version of River Tam.
-
When she leans on the car, and very carefully imitates the chola? Bwahahahaha.
It show promise. I need to watch the first bit some time.
-
It's not all that good right now. It could develop into good, but I don't think it could develop into great, and these days, with The Wire and 30 Rock and Dexter and The Shield, I can certainly afford to skip the merely good.
I'm not a browncoat (does the fact that I know what that is make me one?), but they'll have to keep Summer Glau topless for the rest of the show's run if they want to keep the momentum up. Make it happen, Fox.

thanks. now i won't be able to think of anything else all day.

Man, I ain't watching this. Terminator and T2 were both awesome films, but, much like the Alien and Predator franchises, what made them good fucked off a long time ago. The only way I'm coming back is if someone actually makes Alien Versus Predator Versus Terminator into a film.
By the way, has anyone else ever noticed how low quality the predator films are compared to Alien and Terminator? it's weird they should be linked.
-
I saw last night's episode, and while I can see potential, I wasn't so impressed I'll go out of my way to watch it. Summer Glau really is a robot River in this, but I guess that's because both characters really are just deadpan most of the time. I did like it though, so I'll probably watch it again some other time.
-

Predator was always a third-string monster, and AvP is all corporate synergy. I still think there's meat on Aliens, though. Some guys I really trust are hammering out an Aliens RPG as we speak.
-
Yesssss. Actually, they've got a good studio working on the Aliens FPS too, but that's not as exciting because holy shit does the world not really need more FPS games right now.
-
I liked the way they handled the "What's 9/11" thing in last night's episode.

I have the comic, will that do?
One of the problems with Predator is that there just hasn't been enough attention given to it. The first movie did alright, but the second movie was practically a comedy. I mean, Gary Busey? The fuck. Even the alien comics and novels have some different ideas. Every single piece of Predator anything seems like it is just 'predator land, predator kill, predator start dying and maybe set off huge bomb.'
Either way, I'm a huge fan of both Terminator and Summer Glau, so I have no idea why I haven't started to watch this yet.
-
My brother lied to me and said it was a sit com.
"I'm back from the store."
Did you get the milk?
"I'll be back"
*canned laughter*

I like it so far. I was a little skeptical about Lena Heady after the 2 night premier, but I think she really found her groove in this last episode. The fact that it is pretty much one of only 2 shows that can be classified as "good" on TV right now, I'm definately going to keep tuning in. Also, who doesn't love Summer Glau? Mmm... I also have to point out that while it isn't great yet, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Think of a few recent shows that started out just okay. I was gonna list, but I'll just use Angel as an example. The first season was jittery at best (though enjoyable) and that became the best show to grace the airwaves. And then look at shows that start out amazing like BSG and Lost, both of which went from excellent to horrible in the span of one season (the 3rd season, ironically, for both shows). A show needs to build off itself.
-
Apparently this comes out in February here. I'm going to have to make an effort to actually watch television. I'm not so sure I approve of that though.
-
Or you could watch it online, right now.
-
Well I could but if I want to be able to look at webpages and check my emails in the next 30 days then I probably won't.
-
That bad bandwidth cap? Where do you live?

This is so true it should be on my bumper.

That bad bandwidth cap? Where do you live?
Australia, our net services like to give us a plan that involves 2GB for $40 and the speed they give us is much slower than what they promise. Sure there are significantly better deals out there but it requires time, effort and bandwidth that hasn't been capped down to sub-dial-up speeds to find them.
