If you were to die tomorrow what music would you want played at your funeral?
For my (purely hypothetical) funeral I'm thinking explosions in the sky or, if I have any reason to assume I'd feel lonely and bitter in the (purely hypothetical) afterlife, ICP on a church organ and make sure to lock the doors.
-
"Sex Bomb" by Flipper, recorded live at tommy's funeral.
I would have committed suicide because life without tommy is no life at all.
At least, that's what I'll be claiming.
-
Feeling Yourself Disintegrate - The Flaming Lips
:-D
-
I would want a traditional Catholic funeral, so that's not up for debate, but at the wake it'd definitely be Our Endless Numbered Days
Either that or Nite Versions by Duran Duran.
-
As my burning boat floated out to sea, I'd want "We're From Barcelona" blaring from the mainland.
-
Men At Work - Land Down Under
For real.
-
Something cheesy, triumphant and obnoxiously long. Like 'And Then There Was Silence' by Blind Guardian.
-
Thus spoke zarathrustra!
Not really. I'd play the whole of agoraphobic nosebleed's 'frozen corpse stuffed with dope'.
-
Exhume to Consume by Carcass
It's the circle of life.
-
As my burning boat floated out to sea, I'd want "We're From Barcelona" blaring from the mainland.
Can I come to your funeral? That would be immense.
Dismemberment Plan - It's So You would be fitting, self-deprecating choice for me I reckon.
-
Daft Punk- Alive 2007.
Fuck funerals.
-
1999 by Prince
-
i'm going to play the audio of a giraffe giving birth, in reverse, looped over a beat.
for obvious reasons.
-
I have already planned this. I'll have a few friends cover "In the Aeroplane over the Sea".
-
Better yet, "The Gay Man's Guide to Safer Sex" by Coil.
-
Final words repeated over breakbeats?
-
Johnny Cash mashups.
-
lol@agoraphobic nosebleed.
I'd want an epic mixtape made by my best friend. It would probably contain some James Taylor, Air Supply, Simon & Garfunkel, Iron & Wine, and Wings.
-
"Masterfade" - Andrew Bird
"Cosmos" - Steve Berstein
and the end credits theme from LoZ: OoT
possibly "Move Away & Shine" - Polyphonic Spree somewhere in there.
-
The Diamond Sea by Sonic Youth. Everyone will have to sit through all 26 minutes of it.
-
1999 by Prince
I think "Let's Go Crazy" would be more appropriate.
-
Some happy hardcore would be good times. Failing that, anything by The Angelic Process would deliver. We'll say "shielded by death/suspended in light", because when some one as great as me passes away, you know dudes are going to be really, really depressed.
-
If they played a great song at the funeral of your best friend, wouldn't that ruin the song forever?
-
I think it would really depend heavily on the circumstances of how they passed away. It might also, later on down the track, make the song remind you of a great friend you had, which I don't think would be ruining the song for you.
-
I think before they played "We're From Barcelona", "The Final Countdown" would have to be played.
-
I am going to book Acid Mothers Temple to play my funeral.
-
Either "Minute Hour Day Week Month Year (The Faith's in My Chest)" by City of Caterpillar or "You Don't Know Jesus" by Mogwai.
Those songs have bitchin builds.
-
Probably Bach for the service portion for my family and stuff.
Actually, all old time-bluegrass and Appalachian gospel (you know, the a-capella stuff that sounds really celtic) for the part where I get cremated on a pile of railroad ties.
If only.
-
The Diamond Sea
scratch it. my funeral = EVOL listening party
-
"Don't Stop 'til you get Enough" by Michael Jackson.
Just try to be sad while that song is playing...
-
Well I know "In the Aeroplane over the Sea" is a trite choice, but even if I didn't request it my mom would probably play it anyway.
-
Juvenile-Back That Ass Up
on repeat.
-
Something cheesy, triumphant and obnoxiously long. Like 'And Then There Was Silence' by Blind Guardian.
Oh good lord yes.
-
"Thriller" by MJ.
Because when that song is played, any dead bodies around automatically come back to life. And dance.
-
THIS THREAD IS NOT HAPPY!!!!!
um, seriously tho?
Dont stop Me Now by Queen. then people can hit me with pool cues in rhythm
-
highway to hell.
-
I always thought Back In Black would be good as I was being lowered into the ground, so long as my coffin was fitted with a spring so I'd pop up out of it when the vocals come in.
-
A Black coffin of course, with a cherry red gibson sg inscribed on the front.
-
I think before they played "We're From Barcelona", "The Final Countdown" would have to be played.
Only if performed by the Toy Dolls on kazoo.
-
Dress sexy at my funeral by Smog
-
I love Techno - Soulwax
Except I want "James Brown" replaced with my name digitally, and then it works as a eulogy as well, plus everyone gets to dance.
-
Same song that was played at my high school graduation: The Final Countdown. I also want fog machines and effect lights.
-
If people want to be all depressed, then they should play Joy Division's "Atmosphere." However, if they want to suck up and move on, I'll be glad if they play "I Feel Good" as a laugh.
