mines streetlight manifesto, yours?
-
I suppose the Aquabats, before the horn section left and they picked up the keyboards. Not to say Charge!!! wasn't a good album.
Big D and the Kids table are pretty fun, too.
-
so catch 22?
-
The Skatalites.
-
thank you :)
-
Aaaaand that's the end of the thread.
-
Ska threads are like Keith Richards.
They refuse to go away.
-
Ska is like Keith Richards.
It refuses to go away.
In all honesty, I like The Clash.
-
I wouldn't call the Clash a Ska band.
They are pretty damn good though.
Anyone see that Strummer movie?
-
The Specials are pretty kick-ass guys. I know its cool to hate on ska on shit, but not every ska band is Reel Big Fish or Catch 22. There's some awesome material out there.
-
Indeed. The Skatalites are pretty cool, too.
I wouldn't call the Clash a Ska band.
About 80% of London Calling sounds like ska to me, dude.
-
Yeah, see I'd call them a band who at various points play ska, punk, cheesey funk, reggae, dub and straight up rock. Sometimes all mashed up together. Not purely a ska band. I mean, look at the first album, there's only one ska-ish track on there, Police and Thieves.
Also!
This is my Track Of The Week, which also happens to be a ska track: Push Wood- Jackie Opel (http://boomp3.com/m/75be0b58ad5b).
-
I'm listening to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones right now. They were way better pre-"The Impression That I Get", but they're still pretty good.
Also, Bomb the Music Industry! is good.
-
i dont get it, even ska fans bash on catch 22 they were amazing till they reformed!
-
I don't even think they reformed. Isn't just Streetlight Manifesto redoing old Catch 22 songs? Or did they really reunite? Because Streetlight Manifesto re-released Keasbey Nights, and that might be confusing me.
-
I really enjoy BOTAR, but you can only listen to the same five songs so many times before you go "Ok, I'm done here. See you when you release your next album in TWENTY MILLION YEARS."
-
I love Reel Big Fish and I don't care.
If I'm surrounded by ska dorks or something though, I'll just say The Specials.
-
I like the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and King Muskafa.
I don't really find Catch 22 offensive in any way (although they don't really interest me) so I don't really get why everyone bashes them so much. -shrugs-
-
Rancid. Seriously, dudes.
-
*shrug*
-
I wouldn't call Rancid ska at all. Maybe some roots in ska punk, especially because Tim and Matt were in Op Ivy, but what of Rancid's stuff would you call ska?
-
Time Bomb, dude.
-
Do The Impossibles count?
I remember liking them.
-
I think The Impossibles got better after they dropped the ska out of their sound.
-
are the Suicide Machines ska? i have on of their cds that i still enjoy.
-
The Skatalites.
I agree. They're a lot of fun.
Also, Operation Ivy
-
im not a big fan of operation ivy, and catch 22 split into streetlight then kinda revived and sucked major ass
