As per this thread:
http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,8627.0.html (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,8627.0.html)
It's been too long since we had a thread like this (though I think maybe it got revived a little while ago? I dunno). Personally I find it much more interesting to hear what people sound like, than to see what they look like. So say something to us, sing us a song, whatever - let us hear you!
-
Ohh this was excellent:D I had emilio singing "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid!
-
I was just thinking of starting a thread like this, but I figured people wouldn't like the idea. So hooray for you!
I will find something to record and post again, methinks.
-
This thread is going to turn into internet Karaoke so hard. I will help it along as best I can.
-
Sticky'd mostly so I don't forget to do this sometime soon.
-
Thoughts on how to host?
-
http://www.box.net/
When you link a file it will give the listener the option to download or play it directly from the site.
-
HULLO! (http://www.box.net/shared/zg0mz9uw48)
Maybe you have heard this (http://www.box.net/shared/b7hh6rjk8c) before, but I am posting it again. It was my big hit in the 80's! Pardon the noise, it was hot and we had to have a lot of fans on in the studio that day.
-
I need a mic. Someone get me a mic. 8 Mile.
-
If I had mike I'd participate.
-
participating! although i don't know how to record just voice, sorry. here is me singing along to elliott smith's between the bars.
http://www.box.net/shared/e8mlejn4s4 (http://www.box.net/shared/e8mlejn4s4)
-
Hot dang, Roo.
-
Dude I have a recording of me playing Between the Bars and was considering posting that. Oh well!
Maybe I'll come up with something later. I am tiny but I have kind of a weird voice, maybe. The lowest note I can hit is the D below middle C?
-
Ok well I have often thought that I had a passable voice so here I am singing something. It now comes in just one part! (http://www.box.net/shared/escna76ok8)
-
So I am working on updating old recordings of my voice (songs and stuff), but I want to do something new for this. Two somethings, specifically, and at least one of them will be a song. All songs will be done a capella! I will work out some sort of accompaniment if I can. Somebody pick one! Choices are:
- Canción del Mariachi (Los Lobos)
- The Islander (Nightwish)
- a jazzy rendition of Everything Your Heart Desires (Darryl Hall and John Oates)
- Papa Can You Hear Me? (Barbara Streisand and Nina Simone)
Readings will probably be monologues from Shakespeare, unless I can think of something better.
Objections?
-
Do Nightwish.
Also your reading should be a Shakespeare sonnet.
-
This thread is going to turn into internet Karaoke so hard. I will help it along as best I can.
If I had the voice to pull it off I would rickroll all you motherfuckers. But my voice is shit, so I made fun of Darryl and did a short sample of the White Stripes.

-
I still have this video (http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j125/allylester/?action=view¤t=fantastic.flv) of me reading from Fantastic Mr Fox from last voices thread!
I had different hair.
Huh.
(Maybe I will sing for you one time when I am drunkish. I am not a good singer.)
(Also whenever I watch that video I wince when I realise that I have a lisp.)
-
*falls drastically in love with Patrick*
-
Em have you been getting into the rum again?
-
To be fair mate, you have a pretty cool voice. It's incredibly North American.
Anyway, here is another recording. It's a story about Charlie, written by Noel Fielding of The Mighty Boosh.
Here you go: http://www.box.net/shared/nyzod2ko44 (http://www.box.net/shared/nyzod2ko44)
EDIT: This particular recording is dedicated to Rizzo.
-
Ha!
Me?
Rum??
It's gin ;)
But nosir.
I doing learning today & helping stupid 15/16 year olds learn French.
I really did just fall drastically in love with you (*your voice. Aw heck, naw, you )
I may post something in here laterr when I return to my humble abode.
I'll try and find some shit I recorded about a year ago... But I can't remember how shit it is, so I might upload it...
Or I might not.
-
I'm going to take this opportunity to say that Lunchy has possibly the cutest voice i have ever heard on a grown woman.
-

Now, I don't usually find the Mighty Boosh funny, but that recording had me in hysterics.
-
I still have this video (http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j125/allylester/?action=view¤t=fantastic.flv) of me reading from Fantastic Mr Fox from last voices thread!
Is it bad that as soon as I saw this thread I was going to ask if this video still existed?
A fine piece of internets it is, ma'am. I read that book with me mum when I was a wee lad!

If you ever wanted a poignant tale of tentacle rape with David Shifrin's Mozart Clarinet Concerto in the background, boy are you in luck.
Edited for MP3 format. This is all about equal opportunity aural harrasment.
-
participating! although i don't know how to record just voice, sorry. here is me singing along to elliott smith's between the bars.
If you have Audacity you create a karaoke track out of any a lot of songs. I could maybe make one for you if you want?
Also you have a lovely singing voice! I am jealous.
-
I wish I had a microphone. I would do this.
-
When I get to a place where it's not weird for me to sit with my face right next to the speakers on my laptop (internal mic doesn't pick things up well), I am in! But to sing or to read, that is the question.
-
This is probably a good time to say "HEY ROO. I TOLD YOU SO."
Is it a bad thing that I kindof want to do another recording of me talking, but this time letting what remains of my Georgia accent show up? I'm debating. I may have an answer later tonight.
-
DO EEET.
I am currently looking for a song I feel I can sing without sounding horrid. Maybe I will put one up later?
-
Do it. I'm planning on doing a standard "This is what I talk like, letting my vague bit of New England twang in" and one for how I tend to speak when doing recordings (For the purposes of what I sounded like on my college radio station).
-
Does the thread inlander linked have me doing acapella Freebird? That was fun to record.
ADDITION: page 3! I left that sound clip on my server, even though I deleted the other ones.
-
Okay, I have done some recordings for you all. Here they be. And I know I recommended box.net, but it's being kind of a bitch right now so I used Mediafire instead. Whatever.
1) My normal speaking voice here. (http://www.mediafire.com/?awhhqdpvlka)
2) My "special occasion" speaking voice here. (http://www.mediafire.com/?4grfjdj0eee)
3) Singing voice here! (http://www.mediafire.com/?debmjpd1oux) If you are expecting something good you may be a bit disappointed.
-
Misconception, I like your "special occasion" speaking voice, but I actually think I prefer your normal speaking voice--it's perhaps a little less... mellifluous? But it's got more character.
Here (http://www.box.net/shared/udms4484kw) is my contribution. A couple of years ago, I wrote a very short song. It happened to be at about the time when I started playing around with Audacity, so I recorded it in three parts: (1) a three-track section of the song with voice, harmony, and whistling; (2) 6 or 7 sped up, overlapping tracks of me reading from Machiavellli's "The Prince," somehow altered so as to sound nothing like decipherable human speech; (3) another voice / whistling section.
It would be slightly less embarassing if I had wasted less time on it.
-
Guys stoke my ego, that was an excellent a cappela version of what is love.
-
This is apparently what I sound like. Does anyone else sound grossly different than what they hear themselves compared to listening to a recording of themself?
http://www.box.net/shared/t6pi1ns0gc (http://www.box.net/shared/t6pi1ns0gc)
edit: Since apparently some people can't use .wav ...
mp3 http://www.box.net/shared/hk7cl9pgk4 (http://www.box.net/shared/hk7cl9pgk4)
-
Slick you sounded nothing like I thought you would, your voice is so...timid. Like, now in the shower picture your expression looks vaguely apologetic to me. "Oh, um, hullo, sorry about this, I thought it would be terribly funny but now I'm not so sure..."
Edit: Okay, I just finished downloading Audacity. What's this about being able to make any song karaoke? Because I've got some Alice in Chains and Derik and the Dominos that I want to sing along to.
-
Guys stoke my ego, that was an excellent a cappela version of what is love.
Saying hello is love?
And wma's are the devil. Do not save as wma! (Meaning I can't hear you and it makes me sad.)
-
Edit: Okay, I just finished downloading Audacity. What's this about being able to make any song karaoke? Because I've got some Alice in Chains and Derik and the Dominos that I want to sing along to.
Mmkay so I lied with that post, I discovered a fair number of songs this morning that Audacity can't karaoke-ify. But some work, so here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEjzdurnJhw) is a tutorial video so you can try it. Sometimes it just kinda muffles the voice, but that can help if you are fine with just singing over the original vocals.
-
Saying hello is love?
Maybe you have heard this (http://www.box.net/shared/b7hh6rjk8c) before
LOVE ME.
-
I hope you take it as a compliment that I was laughing the entire time.
And that it is now a part of my iTunes library.
-
LOVE ME.
Uhm...it was funny and made me giggle, so... OK!
-
I liked it. I just chose not to post because your giant ego is suffocating me. You should be modest, like Jon/Obsessions.
I would like to attempt to hi-jack this thread for selfish purposes. I want to program my computer and my iPod to feed me routine instructions throughout the day. Unfortunately, the voices on my computer are kinda lame and robotic sounding.
I want you guys to record yourselves giving me various helpful instructions to be played at various times during the day. Instructions such as 'Darryl, wake up and get out of bed!' 'Darryl, don't forget to eat breakfast', 'Darryl, stop being to lazy!' 'Darryl, it's time to start cooking dinner', 'Darryl, it's getting late, you should think about going to bed', 'Darryl, never give up!'. Use your imagination, what sort of instructions do you think I need to hear routinely?
Will any of you do this for me? I'd very much appreciate it.
-
Oh, man. I am doing this tonight when I get home.
And also masturbating to the rest of you.
-
Darryl- Only if you record yourself and post it first!
Then I will record (almost) anything that you want.
-
I was about to record something for you, until I looked over and realized both of the USB ports on the front of my computer are already taken. Sorry Darryl, I don't feel like making any effort in order to plug in my microphone right now.
ADDITION: I hope you appreciate how much trouble I went through for you.
chin up, mate (http://www.box.net/shared/jztdyid4wk)
ADDITION2: Actually, these are a lot of fun (http://www.box.net/shared/bdf4mc740k) to record.
I suppose I should also have a clip of how I normally sound really. (http://www.box.net/shared/8tq8pq5ssk)
ADDITION3: This will never get old (http://www.box.net/shared/k8erc170oc) for me.
-
http://www.box.net/shared/16ew3b0u80
I hope I didn't snort or anything, I did it in one take and didn't listen to it yet.
-
Thanks! I will record some things for you when I get done with class tonight.
-
Don't forget to do your homework. (http://www.box.net/shared/rl5c87d44w)
ADDITION: I don't know how helpful (http://www.box.net/shared/yks4501kwg) this one is actually.
ADDITION2: I think something (http://www.box.net/shared/db0sceo6c4) is wrong with me.
-
Well, no mic, but I managed to may some relatively low quality ones with my cell phone:
How I generally speak (http://www.box.net/shared/67pd4lao8k).
My slightly calmed 'radio voice,' complete with a fuck up and one word I don't know how to pronounce (http://www.box.net/shared/eu8nj3ao04) (Credit to Harry for my stolen source material).
Last, but not least, advice for Darryl (http://www.box.net/shared/e5hpwgo5cw).
-
HA.
Darryl, I will find some advice and record it for you shortly.
-
Between them, Joe and Taylor have basically made this audio thread better than the previous ones by a pretty wide margin.
-
How did I miss her recording until just now? love love love her voice
ADDITION: I better unplug my microphone soon or I am going to take over this thread.
Alright kids, gather round and I will tell you a story. (http://www.box.net/shared/hfngdrw744)
-
So in the vein of Jon, I have used my cell phone to record (shittily) my voice for all of your listening pleasures, since I know you all care so much about the new kid on the forums that nobody knows yet.
It is here! (http://www.mediafire.com/?2inwzcazjmz)
Expect lots of random skips. It's really breathy as well. I recited tablature for all of you though, so you can learn a new riff!
-
I think these are all pretty useful pieces of advice, Darryl.
MORNING SUNSHINE (http://www.mediafire.com/?ejggnpn0bzl)

Here's me reading a version of popular fairy tale (http://www.box.net/shared/5lakr7oiso) and also, here's some advice (http://www.box.net/shared/zi2e94oowg) for Darryl.
-
If you're gonna box.net PLEASE convert to mp3 first. Otherwise I'm just too lazy/unwilling to sacrifice what little hard drive space I have left.
-
um, this is what I sound like....sort of
http://www.box.net/shared/hq4kl38sos
edit: sorry, correction made
oh, and it turns out that the Rock Band mike works just fine on my PC
-
aif files
These only work on Mac. Convert to mp3.
aup file
What the hell is aup? Again, convert to mp3.
-
For those using garage band, after you export to iTunes, you convert it under Advanced.
-
Blue Kitty I love you now. Your post reminded me I had an old Logitech mike for my PS2 and lo and behold, it works.
I'll do better voice stuff later!
Edit: Joe .aup is the audacity format. For those using audacity, you have to export as wmv or mp3 to have it not be stupid aup stuff. Except mp3 is a pain in the ass cause they want you to download something else. Grrrr!
-
huh, I use audacity quite a bit but I've never actually saved to it's file format; I've always just exported to some more useful file format right away.
Except mp3 is a pain in the ass cause they want you to download something else
I assume you got audacity years ago. I don't know exactly when it became part of the main package, but mp3 is no longer a separate download.
-
it was for me, I just downloaded Audacity and they told me I had to download LAME
-
http://www.box.net/shared/0ngxzpgwsk
This is me introducing myself in Albanian. It says "I'm Patrick, I'm 19 years old, I'm from California. I've played guitar 4 and a half years, and I like music, running, and girls. I like pizza, Birra Korça and raki. Thanks, nice to meet you, goodbye!"
-
it was for me, I just downloaded Audacity and they told me I had to download LAME
Really? huh, well I guess I just forgot about that then, because I certainly have mp3 export. I don't recall doing that, but I suppose it was a year ago.
-
That's what I'm talking about!
It's quite easy to do though.
Step 1: go here. (http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/)
Step 2: Download the file for Audacity and extract and stuff.
Step 3: When you export an mp3 file, audacity will be all like, bitch wheres the LAME. When it asks, just go to where you downloaded the folder and open it and click the little LAME file.
Wasn't that fun?
-
Taylor; wow.
-
Your computers all suck. I'm running Windows XP and have been able to play every single piece of audio here without an issue.
Also, more reminders for Darryl: Brush your teeth! (http://www.box.net/shared/dt3hxji800) If anyone wants to know Rachel's biggest fear about our relationship, look no further than this clip!
Also, in Katie's trend of fucking with stereotypical accents from our homes: MORE reminders for Darryl! (http://www.box.net/shared/5ovwpsasko)
-
Was that pen? Aside from the bit at the end, she sounds like such a mom. As in, if you called Central Casting asking for someone to voice the mom in your new Saturday morning cartoon, they would send her.
-
...yeah...Joe...that was me.
-
I can't be bothered to dg out my mics. Last year, some people made a documentary about me, called 'From the Island' where they got me drunk and talked to me. It was quite fun.
Part one is here (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cNVIVfDEaYA).
Part two is here (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wWwzSoC3dIc).

aif files
These only work on Mac. Convert to mp3.
Except that I tried that and when I uploaded them and linked them in gabbly they didn't work for anyone.
-
Try again. I want to hear it.
-
Are you sure aiff's don't work on PCs? Or is aif a different file type.
-
Well they will play if you have Apple media software like iTunes or something, but the fileformat was created for Macs.
-
Yeah. It's what Garage Band gives you instead of an mp3/m4a.
In iTunes, go under advanced and click "Convert Selection to AAC". That's what I did and it works.
-
Speaking of which, my computer didn't recognize your m4a files. Technically I could listen to any of the other filetypes people have used, it's just mp3 is most convenient. However, yours I couldn't play at all.
-
Weird. I know other people's m4a's were being played in QuickTime instead of iTunes, but they all work for me. WAVs also go to QuickTime, but wma's won't work (as I'm not on a PC). I don't know why they won't work then, so I'll try to fix it.
EDIT: I don't know how else to convert it, but it says it's encoded with iTunes and QuickTime, if that makes a difference.
-
Probably just a codec thing. My computer actually did recognize the files enough to give them the icon for Windows Media Player, but there's an error when I double-click on them.
What are you recording in anyway? You've mentioned GarageBand a few times, but that's a silly tool to use for recording a voice track. Download audacity, it's free and available for OSX as well as Windows.
ADDITION: Oh wait now I remember what m4a is. That's the filetype Apple created for people to use instead of mp3 on Macs and iPods. So it may play in iTunes if I switch it to that instead of Windows Media Player, but again it's not a filetype that is widely used outside of Apple products. The same place you can tell iTunes to convert to AAC, you can also choose mp3.
-

That was kinda cool. I have a feeling you and a friend of mine, and vicariously me, would get along like Larry, Curly, and Moe. If we didn't live 3,000 miles across a very wet landfill.
-
This is me introducing myself in Albanian. blah blah blah
That was pretty sweet. Also you need to do the Georgia accent one, I request it.
-
I have a few YouTube videos of me narrating while I show videogames being played -- will that work? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITfigcznjHk
-
I suppose.
Here is another story! (http://www.box.net/shared/wi3an4uo8g)
Also if you wait like 10 minutes I will re-upload my other recordings in mp3 format.
Also i suppose if you want to hear how I normally sing you can check this (http://www.myspace.com/isgahaatt) out but I dare say many of you have heard it before.
-
I (http://www.lunchboxqueen.com/darryl/darryl1.mp3) will (http://www.lunchboxqueen.com/darryl/darryl2.mp3) take (http://www.lunchboxqueen.com/darryl/darryl3.mp3) care (http://www.lunchboxqueen.com/darryl/darryl4.mp3) of (http://www.lunchboxqueen.com/darryl/darryl5.mp3) you (http://www.lunchboxqueen.com/darryl/darryl6.mp3) Darryl!
-

It probably can! The question is whether or not it will.
-
This thread is too much fun. Way too much.

MORNING SUNSHINE (http://www.mediafire.com/?ejggnpn0bzl)
Katie, I had to listen to this file through iTunes since it's an m4a, and because your name starts with a K as soon as I heard you say "RISE AND SHINE MOTHERFUCKER" it went into Highway to the Danger Zone.
I just wanted you to know that.
I'll probably sing or something when it's not 5 in the morning.
-
Don't stress Pat, I have a similar problem (http://www.lunchboxqueen.com/aussie.mp3).
-
Man fuck you, Patrick, that is not a real Southern Accent (http://www.mediafire.com/?cln3zicjod0).
(Mine is not either. A real southern accent is like what I did before.)
-
Hah, that actually kindof amuses me. I only lived there 4 years and I've been gone for 6.
But now that you mention booze again, I have a mostly-empty bottle of Grolsch sitting here next to me and I've got something like 3L of 180 proof raki downstairs. If you want to get into a booze-fueled Accent Battle To The Death.
Also if you want to get into an Ebonics battle I will fuck you up, ho.
-
Caution: herein raps a white girl (http://www.mediafire.com/?1bsdnzc0slm).
Honey-chile don't even. I will do the snap-snap-snap thing so hard you will actually take it seriously, foo. But i's cool, dawg, cuz what is what it is. We go.
Edit: Squidday this is for you (http://www.mediafire.com/?3fnwgrzm7mz). I was going to do some simple 6/8 percussion (drumming on books) but I couldn't keep a steady beat (I blame alcohol). Also it fucks out in the middle but I do not really want to fix it right now. Also also it sounds like a sea chanty to me, and I find myself leaning towards a brogue anyway, so I just went with it.
-
Also, more reminders for Darryl: Brush your teeth! (http://www.box.net/shared/dt3hxji800) If anyone wants to know Rachel's biggest fear about our relationship, look no further than this clip!

That should be me picking a random (yet tragic) story out of the newspaper and reading it. If it's not...*shrug*
If I get creative, you might see a Sunset Rubdown cover show up over the weekend.
-
oh man you guys i am going to kick your asses at this southern accent thing. you just wait till, uh, monday because i won't have internet again until then.
pee ess, i <3 your voice, patrick.
-
The closest thing to a southern accent I can get is a Kentucky accent. You know, the stereotypical accent of the US. I will do this when I'm not at work.

Dude, that film is actually really great. It made me feel all like, wow, I think in a totally different reality, I think Khar and I would really get along! Plus, it was also just really well made.
And Patrick sounds almost exactly like a friend of mine, and it also makes me think like, hey, in real life, we could possibly be homies.
And as for Joe, well, Joe just makes me go <3<3<3!
-
Khar, I recognised most of the dialog in that movie from your forum post.
Just pointing that out.
There has been a decline in activity here, you guys.

Darryl, people have stolen all the advice that I wanted to record. Is there anything else you need from us?

MuteKi: You basically have one life to get through every level and that's it. Sort of like the approach I've heard people complain that Nintendo doesn't do.
*Giggle, snort* To be fair though, if you're not playing in an arcade, you don't need a life system. Anyway, Sonic games are pretty much the worst games ever. You just go really, really fast, and if you run into something, it was probably because you weren't going damned fast enough.
I don't have a microphone guys, so you've been saved from my wierd Canadian/Australian accent and horrible singing. Yay!
-
This is what I sound like in not shitty phone quality! (http://www.mediafire.com/?9wynsbixt41)
Sadly I do not do a southern drawl. I do over pronounce the L in drawl though. Does that compensate?
-
Ok, I did two more spoken ones. This (http://www.box.net/shared/2ja4i6pkwk) one is about southern accents, though Katie's classy southern accent is better than mine, and here (http://www.box.net/shared/igq4rt3sco) is some more advice for Darryl.
-
Goodnight!
-
Gather round!
And I shall spin you a tale of one Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr. (http://www.box.net/shared/ly6l2nl44s)
From his time in the early '90s.
-
God that was rad.
-
If you ever talk street again I will kill you
but your voice is nice
-
Such is the effect I was going for.
Also can you tell all the points where I have to stop myself from laughing?
I was also going to cover Dynamite Hack's cover of "Boyz In Tha Hood" but god damn I am terrible at finger picking.
Somebody get on this.
-
I meant Patrick, but if you want I will write your name on a baseball bat as well
-
Psh, I'm from Alameda County. You know what's in Alameda County? OAKLAND. If anybody is allowed to talk street, it's this motherfucker right here.
-
Street is silly. People at my high school mostly spoke in street. They too sounded silly.
-
Khar, I recognised most of the dialog in that movie from your forum post.
Just pointing that out.
Hint: I am the same person in real life as on the intertubes!
Julia, I thought we got on all right in this reality! :(
-
Fantastic documentary.
-
Just about any documentary that lets the subject matter speak for itself is bound to be great, I guess, as long as the subject matter is interesting itself. In this case, he is!
How many hours since the last voice was posted? Fix that!
-
jumping on the bandwagon... and also because i don't think darryl can ever have too much advice (http://www.box.net/shared/n4yn9rb40c).
-
You know, Tania, life COULD work that way. He could brighten days and bring smiles to faces by being a prostitute! The "millionaire" bit comes only if he's really good.
IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
-
You mean really good at... smiling?
-
Dammit Katie I already gave you a verbal beatdown once, don't make me do it again.
-
Wait, back up!
I know I'm late to the party, but Slick, I love you so much right now.
-
Psh, I'm from Alameda County. You know what's in Alameda County? OAKLAND. If anybody is allowed to talk street, it's this motherfucker right here.
I live like directly between Baltimore and DC.
This at LEAST puts me ahead of tha ATL. And probably on par with your ass.
-
Word.
To yo mutha.
-
I live like directly between Baltimore and DC.
This at LEAST puts me ahead of tha ATL. And probably on par with your ass.
Dawg I be a half hour outside DC. I got all you bitches beat.
-
I live like directly between Baltimore and DC.
This at LEAST puts me ahead of tha ATL.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA GOD THAT'S RICH
-
Please, let's not have a "who's closer to the street" argument
Detroit
-
Especially when no one is actually posting samples of their Street-ness for judging.
Also I just came across an article in my English book about Ebonics and its linguistic origins as a pidgin language and how it is similar to Gullah (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gullah_language) and Creole.
-
http://www.box.net/shared/a1n3h5rksk
http://www.box.net/shared/hkr0m5u88w
Enjoy.
-
They're .wav and won't play for my Mac-using ass. :\
-
Wait, you can't get WAV to play on a mac?
-
Well, Macs ARE best used as paperweights.
-
Patrick are you retarded? What version of Quicktime are you using? What about iTunes?
-
I have not yet come across a media file that won't play on my mac. Everybody else is just silly.
-
What version of Quicktime are you using? What about iTunes?
Maybe it's just my slow inter-nets, but I really have not been able to get that file to play on QuickTime all day. iTunes isn't gonna happen, I'm not going to save something to my hard drive, it's already loaded to bursting and I'm too lazy to delete shit.
-
I grew up in suburban NH in a two floor home with a two car garage.
That said, I'm STILL more street than fucking Patrick.
-
Y'all don't know what it's like, being male, middle class, and white.
Do you have the most current form of quicktime? WAV files should open automatically in there. And if you have too much crap on your computer, BACK IT UP AND DELETE IT. GAWRSH.
-
What is this 'street' thing? Does it have anything to do with growing up in poverty with the every day threat of losing your home?
And Patrick, man, I have about 14gb free at the moment. I got sick of hearing the 'YOUR HARD DISK IS ALMOST FULL' message and so I put half of m TV shows/movies onto disc. You're just being an ass. Don't tell people not to upload .wav files when YOU are the guy with the problem!
-
I have about 2.5GB left and every time I make a recording it's 400MB or so before I convert it to mp3. I understand that's my problem, but hey. I might not be the only one.
Aside from that, I have shit-slow internets and .wav files are freakin' huge, therefore taking forever to download even if I -did- have the disposable space for it.
-
Yeah, you seriously need to clean up your hard drive. No excuses.
Darryl, street is just a way of speaking when you want people to think you're all tough and mean and will bust a cap when really you just want to frolic in a field with puppies and kitties and pick flowers, but you don't want anyone to know. Or because you really would kill somebody. But it's really hard to tell, for fear of getting beaten up.
-
Oh! I get it! So...
Johnny C is not street...
But Chuck is very street?
-
This is me reading Cool Air (http://www.sendspace.com/file/wsbvth) by H.P. Lovecraft. In fact, I'm a bit of a Lovecraft nut really, so here is me again, reading The Music of Erich Zann (http://www.sendspace.com/file/57rzxm), by the same author, but that one's got music! Check it out, actual music at the start and at the end! Speaking of music, ask Valley_P for some awesome noise music by him, and you can even hear this crazy yap in the background!
Also, Slick, you are now the voice of Cheese Night down at the Club.
Next we want a cover of "I Touch Myself" by the Divinyls. DOOO EEEET.
Super PS: be quick, folks, because sendspace buggers away with these files in about a day!
-
Also, Slick, you are now the voice of Cheese Night down at the Club.
Next we want a cover of "I Touch Myself" by the Divinyls. DOOO EEEET.
That would be all sorts of hilarious.
-
Well, Macs ARE best used as paperweights.
hear, hear!
-
In this case, m4a is just AAC bundled up sneaky-like. It should be usable on your computer, as it is a new technology that is arguably better than mp3.
Also, why are people send-spacing? Box has worked much better for me than sendspace ever did. Just get a spam filter or something on your inbox, or use a dummy one.
-
I've been tired from work and school the past few days and my internet has eben horrible, otherwise I'd be doing this, really I would. I'll think of something tomorrow morning and record it and post it while I'm at school where the internet connection is better.
I've got it. I'll read one of Grimm's Fairy Tales or something.
-
I will think of something to say to all you wonderful people once I am feeling a little bit more awake and not so shy. I really hate recording my voice because I think I sound awful, so I often don't listen to it after it has been recorded and more often then not, it needs redoing because I got shy halfway through. I was thinking of making a video (because apparently I can do that in iMovie or something? I don't know, I haven't really tested out these things on either of my macs), but that would probably make me more embarrassed.
-
Less keyboard tappy, more microphone yappy, people.
-
Ok (http://www.box.net/shared/ptkz7zchwk). I want to do another cover of a song that while being silly, is not as stupid as that one, so I am up to suggestions. But really...more people should do this!
-

Roddy, you have an amazing voice, totally surprisingly, even though I think we spoke once before. Either way, some of the voices of the people on this forum are almost intimidating!
-
I'm a bad reader, and on account of the fact that I can't find my metronome to give me a starting pitch, I read you My favorite poem. (http://www.box.net/shared/64iei9ickg)
My performance is bad, the microphone isn't great, and it's in .ogg, but I figured I'd share just the same. I'll sing a song for y'alls one of these days.
-
.ogg? How do you get a .ogg? (My comp doesn't recognize it, which is why I ask.)
-
.ogg is an open standard for multimedia, it's what my commie-loving open source audio recorder was automatically set to. I thought most players handled it, but I could be wrong. I transcoded it to .mp3 (http://www.box.net/shared/cajk4ja8gw) for you people who hate free things.
-
Hey everyone, here is another reading (http://www.box.net/shared/s7pup2kg0c) by me!
It is from Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard which is one of the few plays that I actually like.
Maybe later I will do some Beckett.
-
Who loves nursery rhymes? Well, my daughter does and it was pretty much all we've done tonight, so I thought I'd share a personal favorite.

My old server went down, leaving most of my wavs on my sister's computer, and it'd be painful for both of us if I tried to record anything new atm (very sick). But those are the few I managed to scavenge up from gmail.
-
ask Valley_P for some awesome noise music by him, and you can even hear this crazy yap in the background!
Which reminds me, are you coming to Tronno to do a live performance of said piece?
-
Malorie, I will marry your voice.
I'll take the rest of you with it, though.
-
i don't do street, but i can do southern (http://www.box.net/shared/k6cl5y3s4s).
proof (http://www.box.net/shared/vmpuzpecc0) i don't really sound like that.
harry potter in italian (http://www.box.net/shared/chy0wmfk80)! (with a terrible american accent)
-
MaiAda I am incredibly pleased to finally know how that is pronounced. My last guess would probably have been "My-ada", so I am glad you posted this before, you know, we were at a cocktail party or something and I had to introduce you to the king of the land or somesuch person. Man would that be embarrassing.
-
She's lying. It is totally said just like the car.
-
I always thought it was pronounced "May Eh-Da". Like...Canadian Eh...
-
i don't do street, but i can do southern (http://www.box.net/shared/k6cl5y3s4s).
MaiAda I hate to say it but that sounds about as Southern as a crate of New York City steel.
-
i have to say i find that comment to be encouraging rather than insulting.
i spent 17 years of my life living in the carolinas and i apparently don't even have a southern accent when i try.
-
I was once told that I would make a good lounge singer. (http://www.box.net/shared/c9347dqg44) Kind of a backhanded compliment.
-
harry potter in italian (http://www.box.net/shared/chy0wmfk80)! (with a terrible american accent)
I am quite proud of myself, I understood a good bit of that!
My last guess would probably have been "My-ada"
I thought that's what it actually is, since that's how "mai" is pronounced in italian?
or is that also an arabic word?
-
"Maiada" is an Arabic name.
Since "mai" means "never" in Italian and "Ada" means happiness in Hebrew (I think?) my Italian relatives were horrified by my name at first because they thought my parents had named me "never happy".
Sooo... to answer your question, nope it's not supposed to be pronounced "my-ada" although most Italians pronounce it that way anyways.
-
http://www.fileupyours.com/files/154713/Howdy.wav
I tend to have no emotion in my voice when recording by myself... Youl will probably have to find me on ventrilo to hear how I normally talk.
Since I am new here... a face to the voice. http://i27.tinypic.com/2nlwl00.jpg

Uhhh...Duh dah duh da da DAHHHHH (http://www.box.net/shared/xsgqmmeqog)
Singinnnnng! (http://www.box.net/shared/li5uagngos)
-
FUXED UP. WILL UPDATE THIS LATER, NEED SLEEPS NOW.
-
I want to do this sooo bad.
I don't have a microphone (someone stepped on it and broke it. those bastards...)
but I need suggestions as to what to sing...ahh!!!!
Open for all lol!
(i'm thinking amy winehouse...even though I hate that bitch at times...)
-
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1339/ipod_hack_use_the_ipod_headphones_as_a_microphone
It works with other headphones besides the iPod brand.
-
Pretty much all headphones can work two-way like that.
What DOES suprise me is that the headphone jack is both input and output.
-
That is actually the reason that people without U.S. Dep't of State ID are never allowed to bring electronics inside the compound.
My laptop is completely fucked, so not only can I not record anything anymore, I can't even finish my album. :(
-
Are you saying I could record guitar direct onto an iPod?
-
Okay internets. Here is a silly lil' ditty I wrote two days ago. It's not really finished yet (so I am requesting that you only listen and not download) and I recorded every track in one take so it's far from perfect, there are some wrong chords lol and such, but I still like it a lot! I think if I wrote some better, less dumb lyrics it'd be quite swell.
Fish Song. (http://www.box.net/shared/fs8kak000g)
My normal talking voice is weird and I probably sort of sound like a boy or something.
-
I am entertained!
-
That's what SHE said.
On a more serious note, I am certainly impressed. Sounds like something WIZO might do, 'cept a bit less angry, German, and punk.
-
Sounds like something WIZO might do, IF THEY WEREN'T FUCKING WIZO.
Geez, Patrick. Do not blaspheme Wizo. They're the best German punk band ever.
-
DID YOU HEAR IT
-
I really, really like it. Seriously, though, one take? Impressive, to say the least.
-
DID YOU HEAR IT
I don't hear a shred of Wizo. Sounds nice, though. Did you use the Dano, Anna?
-
Yup, except I still don't have a real amp yet so I used my miniamp for that.
-
Edit: link expired and I can't find the file :(
-
i don't have a good computer anymore but here is a song i did...a while ago
http://www.box.net/shared/zc1c2gpog0
thanks for listening, bitches
-
Call it... "California"?
-
Intentionally unfunny jokes aside, the Beach Boys had it dead on. California girls are the greatest ever.
-
very lovely, anna, trillian, and cassie!
-
For Darryl.

CHECK FOR RAPTORS DARRYL
http://www.orbitfiles.com/download/id2619599790.html (http://www.orbitfiles.com/download/id2619599790.html)
NO, SERIOUSLY. RAPTORS.
-
It's fun to confuse people as to my place of origin (http://www.box.net/shared/7jh4e4ew4w)
-
CHECK FOR RAPTORS DARRYL
The swearing was overdone, but roddy's is my new favorite voice. On the male side at least; ampersandwich continues to lead for the women.
-
for emilio (http://www.box.net/shared/fhsgk5ri8s)
for squiddy (http://www.box.net/shared/qeemghfs44)
normal (http://www.box.net/shared/pfgs239k4c)
sorry I only have a vague sense of what those voice suggestions actually sound like

Damn, Squiddy, your fake accent is pretty good.

a spoken word I like, written by ani difranco.

*fizz*
-
Only like, two of you have ever spoken to me, so for the rest of you, here is an educational clip of my reading voice (http://www.box.net/shared/h2jjioqask).
People sound differently when they read, so maybe I will post one of me speaking extemporaneously, and the rest of you readers might do the same.
-
Dennis, I forgot how awesome you are, I totally apologize for this.
-
Jesus, people never sound like I imagine...
This is what I sound like today: http://www.box.net/shared/3fh9oej8ck
I think :o
-
That made me chuckle. The Swedish is fun!
-
If Gmaj is your favorite chord you need to learn more chords. Like E7! E7 is fun.
-
An Easter message to all of you, from me. (http://www.box.net/shared/a1advleskk)
-
I decided I do know what I want to say. I want to share with you what is possibly my favourite passage from a poem. I couldn't figure out how to read it in such a way as to do it justice, but my many attempts helped me memorise it at last, which was nice :)
http://www.box.net/shared/86q4e2ssgw
http://www.box.net/shared/5e49bihwwc
PS. E7 is fun! G was the first chord I ever learned :)
-
The internet has just gone too far, and I think it needs a verbal warning before things get out of hand.
Unfortunately, I didn't think it would listen to me - I am not really imposing enough.
Luckily, we had this Logan guy over to sort things out.
http://www.box.net/shared/pu0yid9ssk (http://www.box.net/shared/pu0yid9ssk)
I'm sure it'll listen to him.
(ps. that is just me putting on a silly voice! pictures of matching facial hair to follow soon...)
(edit) matching facial hair pictures now in the photo thread! yeah!
-
There's a video of me I want to post but I don't know how! DAMN YOU, FACEBOOK!
-
There's a video of me I want to post but I don't know how! DAMN YOU, FACEBOOK!
Lighter trick!
I don't think that you can post it outside of facebook. You could badger your friend to put it on youtube.
-
In my semi-soberness I read Green Eggs and Ham for all of you with my horrendous horrendous voice.
buuuuuh (http://www.box.net/shared/dj3u0x76so)
And for some reason I said I had tequila. I actually had whiskey. I am duuuuuuumb.
-
I don't think I've ever heard that book without the pictures--that Sam I Am's really pushy.
But your character transformation's pretty believable! You go from sounding bored and upset to sounding excited! Well done.
-
I'm debating whether I should do this.. then I remember I have the voice of a 6-yr old. Pah!
-
I've made a video of me talking, but it's bloody huge (56,657KB) so I can't put it on box.net and I don't want to host it on my website or it'll eat my bandwidth. Does anyone know how to make a .avi file size smaller?
-
This (http://www.box.net/shared/a4af6c3s40) is the stupidest thing you will hear in this thread.
-
ladies and gentlemen, for your enjoyment I have made a voice sample. Being unable to handle the weird hosting things you people have used, I made a youtube account for this. Not that I have too much time or anything,
update
taking a looooong time to be published, so i will put it up tomorow!
-
here you are
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Csc6H4zk-Q
-
This (http://www.box.net/shared/a4af6c3s40) is the stupidest thing you will hear in this thread.
You know, I was going to trump you and repost my acapella gin and juice from a few pages back.
Then I heard you fuck a guitar.
-
Haha, awesome. I reached that exact conclusion as well. I wanted to read the whole Wear Sunscreen-speech when there was talk about advice for Darryl in the beginning, but after listening to the first paragraph, I quit.
ETA: http://www.box.net/shared/vhg8vf0g40 I sound like a little boy, but whatever. Way different dialect than Jens.
-
hey, i actually have some recordings of myself! they were done as an assignment for my sound design class.
http://www.box.net/shared/68qdjn9c0w - reading my midterm assignment
http://www.box.net/shared/rgwtgxwso0 - reading lines from a play i stage managed recently, with the sound board op as my scene partner. the left channel has underscoring, but the right doesn't.. that was the project.
i think i sound like a little kid on recordings..
-
Then I heard you fuck a guitar.
And now you can see it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPVvjZnGKbA).
I don't really know why i did the accent I apologize for that too.
-
Me reading from The Hypochondriac's Pocket Guide To Horrible Diseases You Probably Already Have by Dennis DiClaudio

Sam, your video is fantastic. I especially liked story time.
