And here it is: www.myspace.com/badactororlando
We formed as a group last October under the name Marauder (\m/ or however you do that stupid thing) but decided to change the name as the archetypal metal "scene" doesn't really fit our goofy personalities. We decided to change the name while having a debate over whether Bruce Campbell could actually memorize two pages of script.
Things we all have in common: We all love shitty horror movies, we all enjoy multiple aspects of history, and we all love beer with our BBQ.
Our common musical inspirations: Mastodon, Baroness, HORSE the band, Mr.Bungle, SkeletonWitch, and traditional Floridian Death Metal.
This post might come off as brash sensationalism seeing as I'm a long time reader of QC and I've only recently began lurking these boards.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

You should change your name to Exploding Dick and the Marauders
-
Or just Exploding Dick.
-
Two things have made me give enough of a shit to actually listen to your band.
1. Your avatar.
2. Mr.Bungle

Haha, what the fuck?
Your rationale behind this?

Haha, yeah. If only Sikth would finally get some new stuff going, I'm really hoping they dont breakup at the high point of their career.
-
Or just Cracking Dick.
Fix'd.
Edit: Just an opinion here, but the cookie monster-esque vocals are not that good for you guys. I think the "blacker" vocals sound better.
-
attack of the killer bbq! Bela Logusi's Worst Nightmare!
Actually, just name yourself Feet.
-
the vocals didn't fit for me either, but i liked the music alot. particularly "Ruschak"
-
So many mentioned of me, I feel honoured...
Anyways, enjoying ruschak so far. I like it. Just make sure you don't succumb to any, uh, metalcore tendencies.

You sayin' there is another band called Bad Actor? Shit man.
-
bummer. that's something no band wants to hear.
-
I would just like to make it known that I named my band OB/GYN Kenobi well before I ever knew about the shirt design.
-
i named my band the audiophiles after whitey houston

High point? Bro, both the vocalists quit. SikTh are never going to be the same, ever.

I meant after the recording of Death of a Dead Day.
-
It's a hell of an album. But I still say the first one is better, even if half of it had been released on EPs already.
-
So ya'll don't like our name?
=(
-
Your name is just fine, but come on, The Exploding Dicks. Awesome
Or you could stay Bad Actor

Haha, we've gotten mixed reviews about our name. A lot of our friends like it due to it's simplicity.
But anyway, what "genre" would ya'll class us in seeing as we've decided to classify ourselves as people define us.

Also, type Bad Actor into Google. I think we're the 4th search result.
-
Your vocals need to be mixed higher, mate. Who mixed this? Was it self recorded?
-
While I like Bad Actor, I definitely thought your name was Bad Actor Orlando.
Which meant your entire band's existence was a slam to Orlando Bloom. And I was happy.
-

It was recorded by Full Sail. It has also, yet to be mixed by their students.
-
Reet. Tell them to mix your vox higher ;-) But then that's just me, my mixing style isn't to everyone's taste. I tend to think that centring bass is for pussies, whereas most people I've mixed with seem to think that it's not even an option to stick it anywhere else.
Listen to Beatles records. Listen to how insane the mixing is on them. Take out a headphone, you'll lose the drums, the guitar, possibly even the lead vocal. And they're arguably the greatest records ever made.
-
They could do whatever the fuck they wanted, they were the goddamn Beatles.
-
Eh, the vox are not mixed that badly. It probably wouldn't hurt to turn them up a smidgen though.
-
I didn't say they were mixed badly, I just said they needed to be turned up - especially the guttural growling parts because those disappear in the mix extremely easily due to being a lower frequency.
-
Is it, perhaps, because it sounds like the vocalist is imitating the guitar by driving his voice harder than is good for it?
-
His method could use some refinement. He just needs some training.
-
I didn't actually listen, I'm just being an asshole.
-
Well, we all do what comes naturally, don't we?
-

You know, that is very common in records of the era, where people did not have a hundred million tracks in protools, you simply recorded one bit on the left channel and the other on the right. Simple technological limitation.

Come on Gaz, I have seen insults out of you that were so much better than this. 1/10, you weren't even trying.

Yes, I am entirely aware of this - it just amuses me that they wouldn't centre the vox and drums of all things. I love that they do that - as I've said, it's the inspiration for my mixing style - but it's a bit 'interesting.'
OMG. Has anyone listened to the pre-40th Anniversary Piper At The Gates Of Dawn on headphones? The mixing on that is fucked. And I mean fucked as in fucked up, as in stupid. I think half the songs just kinda fade in the left side in the middle of a note.
