now i know that trailers are a lot of hype and sometimes when the movie finally comes out there's a feeling of being let down because the trailer of some epic extravaganza seemed way cool with the quick cuts and big orchestral movements... i love that music, its cheezy i know, and i'm just giving in to marketing and advertising but damn that shit is fun... that kinda music makes me surfing the web or making a sandwich look cool. am i the only person that feels this way?
check out www.twostepsfromhell.com for fun previews of epic/dramatic trailer compositions by people that make a living in the trailer music bizz

Man, I swear if I see one more trailer or advert that uses the music from Requiem for a Dream I will seriously hurt someone.

That song is officially YTMND territory. It was lost in one of the Net Wars a couple years ago.

Riddle of Steel/Riders of Doom is better. They used it for a Zelda commercial.

Ah, yes, Inon Zur. One of the funniest bits of criticism I ever heard was when someone said that the music for Warhammer 40k: Dawn Of War was over the top and bombastic. I mean, yes, I understand that such music isn't everyone's cup of tea, but shit, it's fucking Warhammer. About 90% of the fluff around that setting is based on ubermensch who shit courage and piss fanaticism wading into battle as they attempt to purge entire planets of alien life. It's not very subtle.
I mean, really, one of my favorite Penny Arcades sums it up rather well:

Paul Oakenfeld did a version of the Requiem for a Dream anthem for LOTR: The Two Towers and it is awesome.
