The title says it all.
I'll start:

I'm dissapointed that all drummers don't perform like that little Asian guy.
Also: [Insert obligatory Greg Saunier video.]

neil peart

-
the sound quality is rather crappy, but this drummer is balls to the wall insane. has a 2 or so minute long drum solo, then goes into the song.

There's a video somewhere out there of Stevie Wonder, I don't have the link unfortunately.

I love enjoying things everyone else in their right mind seems to hate.
Joey Jordison at sound check (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TwNJs9Zc-0)
Travis Barker redoing Soulja Boy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKQgDY0pZ68)
Neil Peart vs. Mike Portnoy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JdwtaiOcZA)
also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZqwvjwqwK4&feature=related
This wins the thread.
-
i love that travis barker clip. i don't like blink 182 and i don't like soulja boy but i really like travis barker and respect him as a fellow drummer. good stuff.
-
Neil Turpin of Bilge Pump is better than pretty much everyone: http://youtube.com/watch?v=608VqfEmlnM
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2BK4deK7HM
(just pretend like he actually manages to stay in rhythm)
then: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBwfe3TBDO8 .
Also, watching Todd Trainer makes me feel all tingly, rat face and all.
-
No Sebastian Thomson (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncQsOui1ya0) yet? He’s the best part of Trans Am!
Apologies for the shitty editing. No clue why they spend so much time on Nathan eating a pizza while Sebastian is rocking out. At least they stay on him for the breakdown at the end.
-
Travis Barker redoing Soulja Boy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKQgDY0pZ68)
That made that song better.
a lot better. Now, if they would cut out those vocals...
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VdtC9WhnCg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VdtC9WhnCg)
Little Brian Blade solo, one of my personal favs, although I guess he would technically be jazzing the fuck out. I adore his facial expressions in that clip.
-
Why is there no decent footage of Hellhammer on Youtube?
this is the best I could find (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l16TnxtyiI8).
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca230DXyWqk This is Sean Reinert, my favorite drummer.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBA4vWQRBA0 And this is the blind Stevie Wonder doing his thang.
And I can't find any videos of Etienne Gallo doing Cosmic Migration, but if any of you have heard that song (by Augury), you'd know just how sick the intro drum solo is.
-
Now that's some metal (prog metal?) drumming I can get excited about.
And I guess Stevie is kinda okay at that music thing.
-
Yeah, if you've heard anything Reinert's done (outside of Aeon Spoke), you'd know he's pretty awesome.
For those who don't know, he's also behind Death (pre-Gene Hoglan), Cynic, and Gordian Knot.

Drummers rocking out?! This is a song called Biblical Violence by the band Hella. Zach Hill is brutal.
-
Hella is a great band and Zach is an amazing drummer.
This will probably be unpopular, but I love Mike Portnoy.
-
Wow. Hella is fucking sick. Goddamn. Like, woah, man. Holy shit.
I need to...I need to lie down for a minute.
-
the best drummer rocking out I've witnessed is probably Danny Carey of Tool, I've seen them live a few times now and he's always spectacular.
Not necessarily his best but I'm too lazy to go thru all the videos of him on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUcdMva9RnQ
Brian Chippendale is also fucking nuts. I've yet to see Lightning Bolt live but their dvd has some pretty awesome shows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGzPNQ-cT3o&feature=related
I'd be interested in hearing more Hella if anyone'd be so kind as to add some to the mediafire thread.
-
I saw Hella a few years ago and honestly, I wasn't at all impressed by anything aside from that dude's drumming. The rest just didn't do anything for me. To be fair, the venue was also ginormous, which probably didn't help at all.
-
Also, the Deerhoof guy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xda2e1_KiyA&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xda2e1_KiyA&feature=related)
-
I love Greg's set. Toms? Fuck toms!
Okay I think I'm done spamming tonight. Plans tonight were cancelled, so it was this or watch Keeping up with the Kardashians. I like to think this was a survival technique.
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHr4XQ9SEcg&feature=related
Nobody could rock the fuck out on drums like Gene Krupa.
-
Oh my god, Greg Saunier just blew my mind again. He never fails to bring on teh amazing beatz.
-
Kai Hahto owning....

Also, watching Todd Trainer makes me feel all tingly, rat face and all.
You can get drum lessons from the Todd (http://www.drumsetplayer.com/).
One of my friends had lessons with him. After 30 minutes of slamming drums, he took a breather for an instance. Todd says to him "Why are you stopping?" The guy replies that he is tired. Todd looks disgusted and points to the drums. "You're tired? Imagine how they feel?!"
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfcIGeNY_Gk
John Stanier is actually made of steel springs, wound with rage just before the show.
-
Well fuck, I was just about to post something by Battles.
Guess what, 65dos' drummer is probably just as fucking good, but it's pretty hard to find a good clip of him.
This is the best I could find (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ItV4k3Ft1s8&feature=related), but the sound quality is really poor.
-
Motherfucking Flo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cax_Vtc1NKE)
Derek Fucking Roddy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHhSubN1--0&feature=related)
-
Brian Chippendale is also fucking nuts. I've yet to see Lightning Bolt live but their dvd has some pretty awesome shows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGzPNQ-cT3o&feature=related
I find Lightning Bolt really annoying live. The whole 'playing on the floor' thing was probably fun while they were obscure, but now it means that hardly anyone but a small number of people get to see them. The last couple of times I caught them once they were asking people at the front to sit down so people further back could see (which seems to defeat the point entirely, they could have just played on the stage if they were fussed about that) and the other time DJ Scotch Egg just blew them away with his set before them.
I'm pretty sure I've been told Brian Chippendale's favourite drummer is Neil Turpin. When Hella played with Bilge Pump their Zach Hill spent the whole time staring at him too, you can always spot the drummers at a Bilge Pump gig because they're the ones standing where they can get the best view of the drums with their mouths hanging open.
I can't find any really good videos of Dave "undisputed king of fast" Witte (Discordance Axis, Burnt By The Sun, East/West Blast Test, Municipal Waste), but here's one of him with Melt-Banana: http://youtube.com/watch?v=YRvXj3SY-Zo&feature=related
-
Having said that Zach Hill of Hella is a fucking monster. He has some pretty fast hands as you can see here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdMDcG3zAEI).
Of course Zach knows it's not even him playing. Just his ability to stay out of his own way.

That might be the best thing I've heard all day.
-
i hate you.
-
ooh he's got you there.
but no. you're still wrong, Mr. Pope. it's sort of up to the general population to help new people figure things out so the moderators don't have to do anything.
although, you're obviously a troll so we should probably just quit trying to help and let the mods do something about it.
-
Guess what, 65dos' drummer is probably just as fucking good, but it's pretty hard to find a good clip of him.
As good as he is, it is also worth noting that 65daysofstatic uses drum samples too.
-
What the hell is a Troll, I've seen this mentioned in other threads as well. Could I please be informed as to what a troll is?
I recall Jeph calling me that in the Gygax thread, but I think he was joking.... though i cannot say
-
someone who signs up for a place like this for the singular purpose of "shaking things up" and being as annoying and disrespectful as possible.
edit: you are obviously not a troll
-

Fuck, seeing Cynic do "Sentiment" with his drum solo at the start was the greatest thing in living memory! New album this year maybe??
He's my favorite drummer too, but I especially had a deep respect for Sean Malone's bass on the Focus record. Got me hella passionate about learning bass again, particularly the song "The Eagle Nature", which iTunes says I've heard 120 times! Respect.

dave lombardo is also amazing.
plus I love Fantomas to death.
-
Darren King is a pretty cool guy --> http://youtube.com/watch?v=B5a4eVf61To&feature=related
The camera can't really handle it, but still it is full of awesome and is well worth a watch. Definitely one of the more intense concerts I've attended.

Every time I think about drummers I really enjoy watching, I always keep going back to the jazz standards, so here I am dipping back into the Buddy Rich pool. When you're talking about speed and technical precision though, it's hard to do it any better.
-

Fair enough.
As far as I can tell they only use samples for stuff he can't do himself, like the insane breakbeats at the end of The fall of math (the song that is). The poor guy sure does look exhausted at the end of the show.

Richard Mazzotta is probably one of the most unique drummers I've ever seen. It's like he's not playing the drums, but playing with the drums.
& yes, the guy's not singing. Don't be fooled. He's a great poet who can't sing, so he started a band where he recites poetry with a band backing him. Appreciate the uniqueness.
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtJGAe_uqPc This is Brann Dailor, from Mastodon. I was gonna put the Hearts Alive ones in, but the other band members drown him out. He doesn't 'rock the fuck out' as hard as the other videos of I've seen and posted, but he's pretty good, and Jimmy doesn't think he is.
Anyways, this is him dicking around a little bit, and most of the drum track for 'Capillarian Crest'.
-
What about 77 drummers all rocking simultaneously?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=J6rvXNU3Lmg

i was there! that was the single most trippy thing that i have ever laid my eyes on
-
I thought I put that one up in a later post....or maybe a different one? There's a couple out there.

well, heres some black metal drumming by HHHHHOOOORGGGGHHHH of immortal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1etDl5JPyWw
not to ridiculous, but i saw the video and was impressed by the intensity of the drums
