okay these guys are great! i heard of them from this concert "progressive nation" i am going to, they are playing with opeth dream theater and Between the Buried and Me.
anyways, most of the stuff they play is kind of proggish heavy rock and metal stuff, but their singer is more of an indie style(i think, dont flame me if he isn't)
as you may have guessed because of their name "3" they are pretty hard to find on the internet, but here is a link to their myspace page, which has most of the songs of their new album on it.
http://www.myspace.com/3
give these guys a try, they aren't what i normally listen to, but i am hooked nonetheless.

an indie style
What is such a thing?
-
i dont know, really. but when i heard it i thought "indie"
anyways, regardless, it is good.
-
I call "not a street teamer".
-
I dunno, I'm not really feeling these guys. I'll stay open minded though, since I may be going to see Opeth when they come around to DC in May.
Then again if I do that I have to put up with Between the Buried and Me.
-
I call "not a street teamer".
huh? am i missing something?
-
I've been trying to find somewhere to get their music for SUCH a long time. They sing "Halloween" right? My friend showed them to me about a year ago....they're pretty amazing.
-
This is pretty cool.
Also, I'd say the vocals are more progressive than indie, but I do see where you're coming from.
-
I'll stay open minded though,
Nothing wrong with closed mindedness.
Having said that, this 3 band is OK. Name is pretty terrible, but certainly there's worse bands on Metal Blade.
There's also a rather excellent Black Metal called 3. http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=7860

What's wrong with Between the Buried and Me?
-
i could put this new album in the mediafire thread if anyone wants...
-
I saw these guys in concert last year, i think they were opening for if i remember right porcupine tree ... Anyway they rocked out hard and were a ton of fun live. Their CD is really good too. I have tickets to see them in the progressive nation show next month and im excited about seeing them again. Definitely a band i would recommend. their a bit pop but a fun.
-
to the other people here going to see progressive nation, where are you doing it? im going to the one in vancouver on the off chance any of you are.
more on the band, favourite song would be the first two on the album combined as one, and these iron bones
-
im going in detroit,
random fact, they mentioned these iron bones was written while watching the movie terminator.

What's wrong with Between the Buried and Me?
I find them too metalcore for my tastes. I find their music anoying.

These guys are from my hometown of Woodstock. I've been to a shit load of their shows, including the gig where they got signed.
FUN FACT: the lead singer, Joey Eppard, is older brother to the former drummer from Coheed & Cambria, Josh Eppard, who used to be "3"'s drummer before he quit and joined Coheed.
The sad truth is that Joey Eppard'ssolo acoustic album is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than any of their music, although "Alien Angel" off the album "Wake Pig" is really good, its a love song about his wife.
In fact i'm gonna MFTthat stuff for you guys,
-
ooooh I know these guys. they played in my old hometown a few times, since Shabutie (I hate calling them Coheed..) is from my area. these guys are tight. I hadn't even heard of them again since I was a kid though. thanks!
-
^ thats cool that you guys know the band that well.i figured they were very new, but i guess they only recently got recognized. well, this tour should give them a hand. and they are much better than coheed thankfully.
I find them[BTBAM] too metalcore for my tastes. I find their music anoying.

have you tried their new album, colours? i had been warned that they were metalcore but it wasnt an issue when i listened to that album. for a single song, White Walls is pretty good. last few minutes are great.
they seemed more like 100% metal with the occasional metalcore interlude. they actually have some really amazing stuf dispersed through that album.
anyways, im looking forward to seeing them, though not as much as the headliners(dream theater and opeth) and 3.
-
yeah, BtBaM's older shit is much more metalcore and annoying, but Colors is fucking fantastic, amazing, wonderful, and progressive as shit. although, you probably wouldn't agree on the progressive bit unless you listened to the entire thing without stopping.
also, it helps to be stoned.
-
Colors is actually the only Between the Buried and Me album I have listened to. I guess that means I am a hopeless case. Oh well.
I could see weed helping though. Weed helps with lots of things.
-
hmm, yeah there where definitely a few parts of colours i didnt like (one song with a repetative badlyplaced pinch harmonic, sounds horrible) but for the most part, it doesnt dwell on any one annoying part long enough for me to dislike the song as a whole.

This is the first time I've seen you talk about metal. FINALLY you are discussing a band that (kind of) befits your rather excellent username.
Having said that; I haven't heard Colors. To many people going about how 'open minded' it is, which always makes me a bit weary.
