In the interest of not resurrecting old (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,6911.0.html) discussions (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,11438.0.html), I figure a new Venture Bros. thread is in order.
The official teaser trailer for Venture Bros. Season 3 (http://www.quickstopentertainment.com/2008/04/23/venture-bros-exclusive-new-york-comic-con-season-3-teaser/) is up, and it looks like we're in for another hilarious round of shows. Jackson Publick (http://jacksonpublick.livejournal.com/2008/04/24/) says that isn't even the best of Season 3, just stuff from the first few completed episodes.
Anyone else waiting with anticipation 'til these shows start airing?

can't wait looks good woop woop oh boyyyy venture brothers time
Yes, I am excited.
-
Man, I was just talking with someone the other day about how shitty it was that Venture Bros. got canceled. Hooray for being wrong!
I eagerly anticipate this.

And there will be a fourth season!

It feels like they take too long between seasons.
-
yessssss.

"Please do not look away from... the nozzle."
Amazing. This show just keeps getting better.

"Please do not look away from... the nozzle."
I was dying during that part. That's how I know it's one of my favorite shows: even an out of context throw-away gag appeals to my sense of humor exactly the right way.
-
Yes! They're bringing back the Pirate guy!
-
and Brock's creepy mentor dude!
Seriously though, this is going to be 100 different kinds of amazing
-
Awesome GI Joe intro spoof
-
The whole thing was made of Awesome™.
-
Just saw the trailer for the first time last night...::squee::

A new episode is online right now at Adultswim.com (http://www.adultswim.com)

Neato.

Awesome. Although it would've helped if I had watched the rest of the episodes, it was pretty damn good on its own.
-
Since the entire thing was full of call-backs to events mentioned in first two seasons, yeah, there are probably some things you'll appreciate more once you watch the rest of the show. Publick said he was worried about alienating casual fans because the first four episodes of the season won't be "typical" Venture Bros. episodes.
Anyway, I loved it. SPOILERS FOLLOW:
I thought the idea of putting Brock and Doc in brif non-speaking cameos and ignoring Dean and Hank completely was a good way to show that the scope of Season 3 has expanded beyond the core cast. Loved the riff on the Doc & Jonas Jr. intro that began Season 2. That being said, I can’t wait ‘til there’s some real scenes with Brock or Orpheus to really get the season off and running.
SPOILERS END.

I really wouldn't worry too much about spoilers concerning what is essentially an animated situational comedy. If you're going into this show for the scintillating plot, you're doing it wrong.
I'm looking forward to seeing Dr. Henry Killinger and his Magic Murder Bag return next week.
-
I thought that was part of the draw, that Venture Brothers is one of the only Adult Swim shows that has season-long plot arcs.
But yeah, Killinger will be awesome. And it looks like The Nozzle will be making its official appearance the week after that.
-
Awesome. Although it would've helped if I had watched the rest of the episodes, it was pretty damn good on its own.
Dude, go get the DVDs or at least download it or something. It is a fucking awesome show.
I liked the first episode of this season a lot, but as mentioned, I'm waiting for the other characters to show up so that it really gets going.
-
Loved that first episode. Especially enjoyed the addition of "Jupiter" like they did with "Mars" last season.
-
Great episode, I really hope they keep up with the Monarch story arc. That combined with the t-shirt of the week deal astrobasego has going on has me more excited for a show than I have been for a long time.

It's something I've been meaning to do...both require money, though. I need more hard drive space before I download them, and to be honest, I think I'd rather buy them. I might be able to get away with it sometime this summer, though.

Oh man, that last episode...Henry Killinger...too...amazing...hurk...
-
Doc’s revelation at the end was surprisingly poignant. They’ve always made him pitiable for being a ridiculous ass, but that was the first time I think they’ve actually made him pitiable for recognizing he’s a failure.
My favorite line of the episode: "No, YOU are ze magic man!"
-
Yeah, that scene at the end made me wonder if the big plot revelation for this season is Doctor Venture actually becoming a competent scientist. I'm not sure how I feel about that, because a lot of the humor of the show is about how he's a total failure, but at the same time it would be cool to see that gradually take shape.
-
The thing about Venture is he does occasionally invent something pretty great. Like that spider eye robot thing. That was awesome.
-
Please tell me you guys watched last night's episode.
-
I did. I honestly thought it was the weakest one so far this season.
A lot of cool background, but pretty much all the good gags were already shown in the trailers (The cow game, the nozzle, etc).
-
I still almost choked to death for the whole O.S.I. sequence.
-
My favorite episode of season 3 so far. I agree that the second half was a exposition-heavy, but the OSI sequence was brilliant. Hunter got some great lines:
"The Village People called, and they want you to GO F***ING KILL YOURSELVES, you prancy bastards!"
"And I wanted to be born with big, beautiful tits!"
Billy's song also had me dying.
-
I think that "The Invisible Hand of Fate" is definately better than the third one that I just saw, "Home is Where the Hate is." I guess I just liked the hunter gags, the way everything kinda 'clicks' together in terms of Billy Quizboy, Mister White and OSI. And the throwaway gags were great.
"Home is Where the Hate is" is in many ways pretty strong--good development of the monarch, and sergeant hatred was amusing as something more than a throwaway sexual deviant who's main job is creeping the boys the fuck out. But still, it didn't grab me for some reason.
The first episode, though, I do think was rather poignant at times. Venture refusing to be a villain (which in many ways is something he's better equipped for than super science) and resigning himself to second best is both the bravest and the saddest thing that we've seen him do.
Also more Killinger=more love.
-
That wasn't the first episode, it was the second. The first one was the Monarch and Doctor Girlfriend explaining their backstories to the Council of 13.
-
Also more Killinger=pure sex
