Robert Plant Kills Led Zeppelin 2008 Tour Rumors

Robert PlantLed Zeppelin have quashed rumors they are to tour following the success of their one-off gig in London on Monday - after singer Robert Plant announced a string of solo tour dates.

It was hoped the band would play additional dates following the landmark gig in the British capital, but plans for a comeback tour in 2008 have been scuppered after the frontman revealed his forthcoming 11-date solo tour of Europe with singer Alison Krauss in May.

Fans expressed their disappointment on the band's official website, with one writing, "Oh dear - no Led Zep tour in 2008. I really am sick to my stomach."

Dear Robert Plant,

Please just do it already. No one cares about your album w/Alison Krauss. We want to see you howl to "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You", see Jimmy shred on "The Rover" and see John Paul do whatever... just get your old asses on stage before one of you croke. I'm sorry I was born in the 80's and never got to see you play as Led Zep live, but it would be pretty fuckin money to see this happen sometime soon. Especially with the current state of "rock n roll", kids need to be shown of how it's done.

Love,
MedicateSleep

Do people even want it that much? Nothing they could do would make them as good as when they toured for real up until John Bonham's death.  They're still skilled musician's surely but, to borrow some phrasology from the New Yorker's Sasha Frere-Jones, it'd feel like a cover-band.

I just wanna see them before they die. I thought the general consensus was the same. Guess not.

I think the advice is usually: "LURK MOAR!"
But you haven't really made any sort of error. People might still care enough to discuss. Just be patient.
Oh, but for reals advice: Don't whine about how people here are big ol' snobs even if we sometimes kind of are, because it's really annoying.

I think it's good that Plant may still have some dignity left. Nothing is sadder than bands that just reunite old anf fat to play the same songs only shittier.

Except Starship.

Fuck all of you, except guy-who-likes-Taxi Driver. I'd give just about anything to see Led Zeppelin reunited. Jason Bonham is just as good of a drummer as his father was. I've seen him sit in with various bands numerous times, and he's arguably surpassed John. Plant can still hit the high notes, and Page is one of the few remaining Classic Rock guitar "gods" who isn't dead or incapacitated.

Also, there are a certain number of "snobs" here, whether hearing that annoys you or not. But it comes with the territory. This board is still a great place.

Except Starship.

Yeah, tough to get any sadder than Starship was to begin with.

They're probably afraid their drummer will die again.
