Title: Kiss help
Post by: snalin on 08 May 2008, 04:53
Kiss, the band, is going to have a live concert over here. And I figured I had to go. You know, Kiss is famous for their concerts. The problem is that I haven't really listened much to their music, I know some songs, but I've never gotten around to listen properly to them.

So, does anyone know what albums I should listen to to get a good impresion of their music? Help will be appreciated.

you should probably just pick up a "greatest hits" type CD, seeing as that's all they'll be playing anyway.

I'm sure tickets to that show will be really expensive. Since you're not too familiar with their music, let me give you some advice: Don't go! For the love of god, don't go.

But Tommy, that record doesn't have "I Was Made For Lovin' You"

I'm from Norway, the country were we shit money. And it's more for the event and hanging out with people and having a generally good time than the music. I just thought it would be nice to be able to sing along :P

And, yeah, I'll try Alive. :D

I keep seeing the name of this thread and thinking "Okay, first you find another human, or at least something with lips, and you..." etc.

Tommy is correct.  Alive! is very nearly the only KISS album you need.

If you find yourself wanting more, the studio follow-up to it, Destroyer is also very good.  By Love Gun (the album after that), they had already become parodies of themselves, though there are a few good songs on that one as well.  Despite the fact that these albums came out in the mid-70's, 90% of the songs at most KISS concerts will be from these three albums.

Also, it may not be the "official" way to write it, but I often see the name of the band written in all caps.  This also helps prevent confusion about that activity involving lips and another person.

I thought it was obvious that I wasn't talking about intimate activites in the friggin music forums, but okay.

Downloading everything recomended. And I'm allowed to download, I'm going to buy a friggin expensive ticked.

Thank you, this can die now.

It was obvious, I was just saying how I've usually seen it written, and playing into De El's joke.

Okay, now it can die.

When it comes to Kiss concerts, more than almost any other band, not knowing every word to every song makes you look like a dick. So I'd be careful about going.

And honestly, I've always had a sense of guilt about going to see a band live that I barely know. I always end up thinking 'there's one more hardcore fan who got there a second too late who could've got into this gig, but didn't because of a part-timer like me.'

Thank you, this can die now.

Locked as per request.

Also, because I am in the KISS resistance.
