it has a 3-ish minute outro which reminds me greatly of oh no! oh my!
once i have acknowledged your naming of this song, this thread may be deleted.
-
Could you be a bit more vague, please? I like to start with little to no information. Some lyrics could help a lot.
I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and say "The Trapeze Swinger?"
-
It's a cover of 'My Sharona', originally by The Knack.
-
When I expect "Sex Bomb" he throws "My Sharona."
Well played
-
exactly right, tommy. i thank you
tear down this thread

Could you name this post-rock song I heard the other day for me? It starts off really quiet but it slowly builds up into this wildly crazy crescendo at the end.
Thanks!
-
Oh man, I think heard that one, too. Don't know what it is, though.
-
What?! A post rock song with a quiet beginning that builds up to something wild and crazy at the end?
It couldn't be!

Oh hey, while you're at it, can anyone name the rap song where the guy keeps going on about how good he is? And that Zappa song with all the non sequiturs?
-

All of them?
-
Ah! Of course! That's the one(s)!
-
Hey, can someone tell me that joke that was not particularly funny the first time, and then got less and less funny the more people posted variations of it? Thanks so much!
-
^^^^^^ lol.
-
Hey, I like bashing these music genres.
The joke ain't old, yo.
-
HOW
HOW
HOW
can you NOT like post-rock? I mean I guess if you're not into music and just want lyrics but man... the meaning is THERE.
-
I think she was referring to rap music.
-
I was. I really like post rock. Slint and Mogwai= utterly great. Rap music = not so much. (except for some)
-

That'd be Spiderland?
-
I think from here on the thread is going to only continue to spear drastically away from the OP. (yes, I realise I wasn't helping)
If you REALLY want to find the song, I think most of their (his) stuff is in the mediaf!re thread.
If it has quite a low-fi sound, it's probably on "The Creek Drank the Cradle".*
If it sounds a bit more polished but only has maybe one or two instruments (mainly acoustic guitar), try "Our Endless Numbered Days".* (Just thought of something - are any drums used on this album?!?)
For stuff with more instruments incl. electric guitar, try the more recent "Shepheard's Dog" LP, or "Woman King" EP.*
(* possibly over-generalising here, but it might help - anyone else?)

That is certainly a defiant stand there, miss.

Actually, it was Fun House

Slint is overrated. "Washer" and "Good Morning Captain" are notable exceptions in an otherwise reasonably bland catalogue of songs. I wish people would stop confusing innovative with good.
Mogwai, on the other hand, get better every album (the Zidane soundtrack being the exception to that axiom).
Bashing rap as a genre is played out. There is so much good rap out there, yet for some inexplicable reason people think that Top 40 rap is the only rap that exists. That's tantamount to assuming that rock music sucks because you heard a Nickelback song once.
-
Oh god, sorry about the bad joke. I didn't realize it would lead to more bad jokes and bland discussion about post rock.
Sorry QC!
-
I'd say if it has a long outro then it's likely to be one of his more recent songs, probably something off the Shepherd's Dog.
-
The song with the longest intro on Sheperd's Dog is 'Wolves (Song Of The Sheperd's Dog), I think. The outro is about 2 minutes. The other song's outro's are all a lot shorter, so you could maybe try this one out to see if it is what your looking for I guess. ;)

Hey. I said some of its good. "For What You Though Hops" by The Typical Cats, for instance. Rap can be amazing, and yet, the widespread consensus says that the rap seeping the radio now a days is of a certain 'bitches and ho's' styles thats absolutely dreadful.
I'm sure thats pretty sure to say.
-
Right, but pretty much all rock and country music on the radio sucks, too. Why single out rap as having "some good stuff"? That makes it sound like there are like ten good rap acts in the entire world, when the truth is that by sheer numbers for every one Top 40 shitty 50 Cent rapper I can name like ten good underground rap acts and it's not even a genre I explore very much.
Same with rock. Is popular rock music shit? Yes, but there are more good underground rock bands than there are popular shitty ones. So it would be more accurate to say "Rock/rap is pretty good, but some of it is total shit" rather than the other way around.
Especially on a local level! I am having trouble thinking of more than a few shitty local rap or rock acts (other than bands of highschool punk kids) but I could name 40 or 50 local rap and rock acts that are incredible.
(Note for the comprehension impaired, by "rock" I mean ALL rock-based music, be it post-, indie-, noise-, garage-, psyche-, or whatever.)

Keep to the forum topic.

Keep to the forum topic.
You've sparked a minor debate, you can't tell somone to shut up because of it.
-
People seemed to want to get back on topic...
plus, I really didn't want to argue with zerodrone.
I kind of get the feeling I'll get debated no matter what I say?
-
It happens. This is a place of frequent debate.

No, I don't think that's true.
Basically what we seem to want to do is make a meme out of Slint and the Stooges and then use forms of the phrase "masturbate furiously."
-
This is a place of frequent debate.
no it's not.
-
Says the one who has been here about two weeks and cannot use capital letters to save her life.
Oooooooooooooooh!
-
yes i've only been here two weeks, and i am already more internet popular than you.
and i can type properly when i'm drunk.
so there.
-
That is all I have to say on the matter.

Been around forums long?
Plus, I don't think what I said constituted "arguing". You were so vague and nebulous that there was little for me to "argue" against. If anything I was asking you to clarify your position because of the extremely limited content of your posts.
