Title: Ringtone.(
Post by: talley on 01 Jun 2008, 21:50
I'm looking for suggestions for a new ringtone, because I've gotten bored of my current one, which just sounds like a phone. My phone's got .mp3 ringtone capability  so whatever I can buy/torrent (alright, torrent.) I can put on there. Any ideas?

You can just make your own ringtones using Audacity.  Just select the part of the song you want, export the selection as a .wav, and convert it to .mp3.  It takes like 5 seconds to do and no searching for torrents and stuff.

I might actually stop having songs I like as ring tones, because it's not people call me enough for me to get sick of the songs, but I tend to use my cell phone as an alarm and quck possibly being rudely awakened by a beloved song can cool your love for it a bit. Annoying noises are already annoying, so I guess I might as well wake up to them.

However, on my last phone, my three ring tones were "Sing Sing Sing (With a Swing)" by the Benny Goodman Orchestra, "Straight to Hell" by the Clash, and "Starting Wearing Purple" by Gogol Bordello. I did like answering the phone to the first two, the third was kind of a bad version of the song.

My message alert is "Aint To Proud To Beg" by The Temptations, and my ringtone is "Move On Up" by Curtis Mayfield. Both have the best mutherfukin starts ever.

Creedence-Fortunate Son
Since Diehard4.0, people have been calling it "That Diehard song", but it's still the best ringtone ever.

The Replacements-I Will Dare
People can't help but tap their feet to this one!

Devo-Girl You Want
I'm not sure why this one works, but it does.

Bedhead-Psychosomatica
For when you're feeling SERIOUS. If you want to look heroic while answering your phone, this is the easiest way to do it.

I have yet to find better ringtones than these.

This website is the best ringtone maker.  You just up the song off your computer, tell them what time to start, and how long you want it to go.  Then they send it to you in a picture message.  Easy as shit =D

Tommy, it surprises me that you didn't offer up "My Sharona"

I can't do this because I can't receive those new-fangled picture message-types  /oldcoot

I, uh, I don't want to seem like a huge asshole here, but do you guys actually care about what sound tells you someone wants to talk to you?

Yes. It tells us how cool we are, so other people understand why people want to talk to us.

I think I mean this without irony..

WHO, WHO IS CALLING IT THAT. Names and addresses now please.

For the record, my current ringtone is "Moonage Daydream" by David Bowie, because there's nothing better than Ziggy Stardust proclaiming that he's an alligator.

Well, if you don't have to pay for it, why not?

I for one have Turncoat Revolution by Hot Cross as my ring tone, recorded of a stereo.
