Title: Guitar Hero: Aerosmith
Post by: ptfreak on 30 Jun 2008, 21:30
Given what I've seen in the music forum and here, I'm almost afraid to ask, but has anyone gotten this?

Oh I bought it! Because if there is anything I want more in my Guitar Hero game, its more classic rock!

Yeah, no, I haven't bought it.

Friend rented it and I saw it being played. Really, it's just Activision milking the series for as much money as they can get, because all the songs would be better suited as song packs downloadable from PSN/Xbox Live.

I've played it, and it's a mixed bag.

It does feel like an over-priced expansion, however, it's not as bat shit insane hard. It's fun

I would totally buy Guitar Hero: Rolling Stones, though.

And by that I mean, buy the songs for Rock Band off the PS3 network because why bother making more Guitar Hero when there is Rock Band.

My brain went "Aerosmith-exclusive GH addon?" and then it proceeded to throw up. My brain spewed inside my skull. There is brain-puke in my head.

What I am trying to say is "fuck that shit, goddamn capitalist whore Activision".

Buncha reds, eh? Fight the power, stick it to the man, free Tibet, no grapes, all that bullshit

Terrible?  Maybe.  Overrated?  Possibly.  Overplayed?  Yes.  Definitely.

Pre-80s Aerosmith is fucking amazing.  Go listen to "Toys in the Attic".

Do you think that appealing to an audience that has bought 150 million albums worldwide is running a franchise into the ground, or is it that one game that only appeals to a specific group ruins the entire integrity of the entire series? That's almost as bad as saying that allowing same-sex couples affects heterosexual marriages somehow. Making Aerosmith will barely affect World Tour, if it does at all. You don't have to buy it, but just because you don't want it doesn't mean that the entire franchise is automatically shot.

What I want to know is, when are they going to come out with Guitar Hero: Maria Siewers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mar%C3%ADa_Isabel_Siewers)?

Sweet jesus, take it down a notch, Captain Overreaction. Your exaggerated analogies are far from welcome.

My advice to you? Lurk more and hang out in the Hi, I'm New forum for a few days. You've been registered less than 24 hours and you're already stepping on toes. That's usually a rough start.

Lurking doesn't work for me. I lurk and never come back, and I am dedicated to blowing this place to smithereens.

And btw, I'm not a Captain. I was promoted to Major Overreaction last year.

I am perfectly fine with that. Seriously, man, respect the forum guidelines. They're there for a reason.

Be excellent.

He's being a cock ("I am going to blow this place to smithereens"?  Really?  Are we 14 and worried about our penis size or what?) but he's right - milking the franchise doesn't actually make it worse.  Considering they just released the entirety of Doolittle for Rock Band I think they know that their target audience wants a good variety of music and they're willing to deliver.

I'm not saying his opinions wrong. While I do think they're milking it a bit too much, you don't just stop producing a successful franchise. You strike while the iron's hot or whatever it is.

That said, he put forth his opinion in a profoundly dickish manner and that's not how you make friends. If he's not interested in making friends, a forum is probably not the place for him.

Addition: Jens has a point, too. The fastest way to run a good idea to shit is to rush out subpar products in quick succession. See Guitar Hero 3 for a recent and entirely too relevant example.

That said, I love Aerosmith and Jens is a douche bag for not liking classic Aerosmith.

"I am going to blow this place to smithereens"

Quotes should be used carefully and correctly. That's what Madame Morrible always said. (not really but wgaf)
EDIT: Doubly for Anyways, I never said an audience of 150 million people, I said an audience that bought 150 million records.</edit>

au sujet- merci beaucoup pour les jeux

I'm just saying that as long as Activision is releasing Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Doolittle for Rock Band at the same time, they're doing it right.

I mean I sure as Hell wouldn't complain if they released Guitar Hero: Mogwai.  Like it or not, Aerosmith is a notable enough band that this is at least marginally justified.

I guess it's got something to do with the fact that I can't even read the name "Aerosmith" without a shrieky voice bellowing CAUZE AH MISS YOU BAYBEE AHND I DON' WANNA MISS A THAAAEEIIING inside my head.

Yeah that's pretty shitty that everyone knows them for that one song. Same thing happened back in the seventies, with Dream On. Everyone knew that song, but after two years of only hearing that song out of all of theirs on the radio, the band was ready to throw up when they heard it. This is no offense to you, it's the fact that I Don't Want to Miss a Thing is their only #1 single, which is kinda messed up when they're the best selling American rock band, if not the best selling American band period, though I'm not sure about the latter.

lol @ a 17 year old telling us what it was like back in the 70s.

That Sloan comic was awesome.

And now I want their entire discography on Rock Band.  And I know it will never happen.

It's called an NYT bestselling autobiography of the band. You think after the shit I went through in this topic to defend them I wouldn't have taken the time to learn as much as I could about them?

Not sure what you're getting at there...

Also, I'm intrigued by the B& threats, but I don't think I've seen a visible mod or admin around here. Maybe I'm just used to color coding.

ptfreak, you're not going to get banned for this - you get banned if you maintain a fixed asshole attitude, or say something really out of line. You've done neither, so you're probably in the clear. People rarely get banned.

Yeah I know. Or at least I would hope I wouldn't get banned for doing so little, though without a good standing reputation I guess it wouldn't be totally undeserved. I really am just wondering where the staff is. On my forum we've almost always got an admin on and our admins post more than anyone else. It's just curious that I haven't noticed any.

And no, I don't run my forum with this pissy of an attitude, I guess it's just that time of the month.

Hello!

So guys, apparently there's a new version of Guitar Hero out. It's called Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. If you like Aerosmith you will probably like this game. If you like Guitar Hero you will probably also like this game, though the likelihood of that is slightly lower. Personally, I won't be interested until they come out with

Be excellent.

I would buy that game.  In a perfect world it would be basically just frantic flailing on the fretboard with no clear motive or reason behind it other than rocking out.

'Sup.

Also, mandatory pauses every thirty seconds to high-five your buddies. I think the game would have to ship with some kind of high-five glove version of the standard Guitar Hero guitar, so that the game could rate your high-fives in the same way that it rates your guitar playing.
