Why (http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/137706-ian-curtis-gravestone-stolen) anyone would do this is beyond me. Although I can definitely see the possible reasons behind it.
Still, what the hell. Also, I'm saddened that I had to hear this from Pitchfork, because those guys stuck an advertisement into the article.
Not cool, Pitchfork, not cool.
Edit: Ah, the BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/manchester/7486280.stm) seems to have more to say. Albeit not much more, but at least they aren't blatantly advertising a new Joy Division themed Zune.

Man I can't think of anything worthwhile to say except, graverobbing is pretty fucked up. And Ian Curtis didn't have a batshit insane crackwhore widow, either.
I don't think Pitchfork's advertising/profiting from that link to another story so much as their journalistic standards have sunk so low that they must add snark even to an article of this nature.

I saw Control tonight. Total coincidence.
Stealing a gravestone is weird and wrong. Ain't no good.
-
See, there's a lot of people in this world I hate - there's a lot fewer that I would wish harm upon, even fewer that I would wish death upon, and I could probably count on one hand people whose grave I would approve of being desecrated. It's just like, a whole other line that you don't cross.
-
Now THAT would make a great coffee table.
-
What I think the worst part is is that there's probably some gorky fucking teenager outh there with the stone in his closet, exhibiting it to his freinds who are like "whoa man thats totally like Ian curtis's gravestone thats soooo cool". The kid should be jailed.

Now taking bets on how long 'till it winds up on eBay.
-
Yes, just a little bit higher than the vigilante goth justice I am imagining.
Or maybe lower... do goths still take futility as a sacrament?
-
I don't even think most of them can spell futility.
