I don't care if it's a 9 gig download. This game is going to completely slay. Famitsu gave it 9/9/9/9 which is incredibly high praise, and EuroGamer also gave it a glowing review.
I never got a chance to play Siren 2 (wtf why translate a game into English but only release it in Europe?????) but the original is my second favourite horror game of all time, and from what I hear the second one is way better (!!!!!) and this one is even better still (!!!!!!!!!!!).
The demo is awfully short but shows so much potential.
So, even if Silent Hill 5 manages to suck, there's still this.

Jesus, I just read up on the original Siren. It sounds really really cool, I may have to look into this once the PS3 becomes not ludicrously expensive.

Isn't this just a remake of the original Siren?
-
Not actually. It's kind of a fake-remake; the gameplay has been altered DRASTICALLY, the things you need to do in each "mission" are, from what I understand, completely different at least most if not all of the time, and the characters have been changed in a way; there are still the same character "archetypes" but they have different names and background history (for one thing, most of them are American in this one instead of Japanese).

siren is so goddamn hard. i fucking hate that game.

I thought it was kind of dumb. I would rather play Clock Tower III.

This one is a lot easier. Not as easy as Silent Hill 2 or 3, but miles easier than the original, which is both good and bad.
I've done 4 of the 12 missions; based on how long that took me, it seems this game is around 12-14 hours long. It's very pretty, has great voice acting, and very refined gameplay. It's basically pretty amazing. It is annoying that the first two episodes take longer to install than they do to play (I'm assuming because they contain the game engine, because starting with the third episode they install very fast). Download time isn't an issue either; just queue up a few to d/l in background while you play.
Overall so far it's absolutely fantastic and not a bad use of $40. For those concerned about the 9 gigs it takes up, you can delete episodes 2-12 and re-download them any time you want so it's not really an issue.
