Alright. Apparently there is a bit of discussion in the guitar thread, but this deserves it's own topic
Guitar strings.
I am always hesitant to try out new strings because aside from the pretty box and some specs, I have nothing to go on.
So, what have you tried, what do you like, what have you hated.
I use Ernie Ball strings for both my guitars.

The Earthwood strings sound AWESOME. especially when they're new.
Maybe if i buy a new set I'll upload an mp3 of a few chords or something.

I just used D'Addario nickel-wounds, .010-.042 gauge on my electric and I have light gauge D'Addario phosphor bronze strings on my acoustic. Both have pretty excellent tone. I absolutely love phosphor bronze strings for acoustics. They have a nice warm tone with a bit of jangle.

Always been a fan of D'Addario myself.
Went back to the EXL110 (10-46) set, Was using something monstrous like 13-58 for some time tho.
For my Bass it was pretty much GHS Boomers or nothing.
Lately I have been buying strings from http://www.webstrings.com/ (http://www.webstrings.com/).
Quite happy with the quality so far.

For my Jaguar I use D'Addario EJ21 (.012 - .052) and for my Telecaster copy I have GHS Zakk Wylde signature strings, which are .011 - .070. I don't know much about string quality, but the D'Daddario strings seem to be pretty good, and the Tele I only use for noise/drone/doom anyway.

I too use D'Addarios. I haven't changed strings on my strat in a long time but it's prob got .10's on em. And on my taylor i just put on phosphor bronze d'addario .11's. They sound fucking amazing. The brilliance and tone beats out anything else i've used by far, and they hold up pretty well too.
Does anyone here use those shitty coated strings? Ex: elixer's

I am using Super Slinkys, like your regulars but 9s instead of 10s. I'm really into Hybrid Slinkys (treble strings are 9s and bass strings are 10s or 11s, your choice), but I haven't been able to find them around where I live. Closest place that stocks them is Guitar Center in Mexico City.
I absolutely hate stringing my guitar, so I put off buying new strings until they break (usually). It has a Bigsby, and the strings are falling off of it (tailpiece) while I'm trying to get them into the holes in the pegs, and I have to resort to weird things like putting the string around my neck for tension. I never even use the stupid thing anyways, except for when I'm playing Dramamine by Modest Mouse.
I hear Elxir Nanoweb or Nano-something strings are amazing.

Phosphor bronze are acoustic strings, yes. I can't imagine they'd play well with pickups.
I use D'Addarios everywhere. Custom light phosphor bronze on my acoustics, and Jazz light chromes on my electrics, with flatwounds on the semi-hollow. I'm a total D'Addario fanboy.
Can't stand coated strings, though. They're icky.

I've got elixers on my dad's acoustic, they were recommended by the clerk, maybe he was trying to shift them. I have D'addario 9-?? on my electric currently, need to change them and clean off the fretboard while I am at it.

Yeah I actually like em, I use the nanoweb (polyweb is alright but they kinda blow in terms of tone).
It really depends on the guitar though cause they are tinny/sparkly, I only use them on my Cedar Ridge grand concert cutaway.
On my big ol Gibson dreadnought I use the aforementioned phosphor bronzes, and
for my large collection of electric I used d'addario 9's but recently switched to Ernie Ball tens cause honestly nines are terrible for playing heavily detuned stuff (think Queens of the stone age type riffs).
I know there was a big argument over "ROFLcopter 9's suck blahbalh"
There are definitely times when you need a heavier string, in fact a lot of other guitarists I've played with use 11's for detuned stuff,
but I have little gnome hands so 10's are just fine for me.

What do the chromes sound like?
They are totally badass. Very mellow, and no squeak. My only complaint is that the tone is a little bit duller than I'd like, but I hate hate hate string squeak so I'm okay with the trade off.

I've got the Ernie Ball Skinny Top - Heavy Bottom on both my electrics. I love them and I can't see myself using anything else.
I actually put a set of Elixirs on my acoustic to try them out. They feel pretty good, and the sound isn't terrible...it's not good either however. I was glad I got them for free, because they are stupid expensive and I would've been pissed to pay so much for crappy strings. Normally, (like everybody else, it seems) I use phosphors.
