Yeah, was looking about on YouTube and found this...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVky7hwuebU
I love it.
Just wanted to show it off.
xD
What do you guys think?
-
Originally, I thought you were trying to insult me. What a hilarious misunderstanding!
I kind of like it. The guy's voice started to annoy me, but I like the idea. Does he actually have a backing band, or does he do it all himself (in the studio/tours)?
-
i liked it up until he started singing.

idk.
it'd be epic if he just used like pedals/repeaters/whateveridon'tunderstandthisshit to repeat the sounds when he's doing it live.
I would love to see it.

Uh huh.
-
I think his voice is great, and the song is fepic. Thank you.
-
I too thought it was rather great until/during his vocal exercises, as I think I'll call them. I mean, they were harmless but not at all my kind of thing. A cool video indeed though.
-
Was I the only one hoping this was about Alice Cooper?
-
What?
-
I really like this. A girl I knew once tried to tell me David Ford was a genius but I never got round to listening to him.
-
Man, I dunno about a genius. I mean, he can play a few instruments and knows about looping pedals and sings in a voice that I would call, if in a charitable mood, inoffensive. In other words, probably something the front man from, say, Maroon 5 could pull off. He's OK but, musically, seems really...I dunno. Standard?

Well, yes. I was not calling him a genius. A great, great 15 year old girl once did.
Also: Much as I hate to insult a man I do not know, I would question wether That Dude [surname "From Maroon 5"] could operate a looper pedal and all that.
I like it. His voice is a bit too "Hello, you're listening to Radio 2" for my liking but it's a good song. The lyrics are good [but not great]

I was really hoping this thread was going to be about Hell, the goth club in Melbourne.
I confess myself disappointed.
-
This guy:
a) tries too hard to
b) sound like the Conor Oberst everyone hates mixed with Jack Johnson but none of the Conor Oberst everyone likes.
-
Nice try but he sounds nothing like either of the people you mentioned.
He sounds more like James Blunt. I really enjoyed the video, though.
-
Opinions, man. Everyone has them.

Go to The Burning Hell (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zAX1Qy6glI).
-
the percussive elements were boring, both in concept and execution. the singer was painfully self aware both visually and musically. similar to the percussion, the video was a succession of weak ideas poorly executed. the composition/melody was insipid. the lyrics... well i'm too lazy to find appropriately colorful adjectives, but they were bad.
i don't get it, when every element is void of any redeeming factors, what do people find to enjoy in this?
-
you best be talking about the op son

Apparently insufferably bland is the new talented.
Hence my jab at Jack Johnson earlier.

Mathias Kom is Jonathan Richman. Or wishes he was.
-
For anyone else who actually liked it: Don't seek out the album version of this song. It is woefully inferior to the live/one-take/this video version.
-
Johnny C, I swear you've linked to that video at least 3 times before. And yet I never tire of it.
-
After a while the layers upon layers almost made me nauseous and uncomfortable.
Like cramming a big boob into an A cup.
BUT!
I do appreciate the ingenuity nonetheless.
-
it would be good if it wasn't for the first sound layer 1:15. annoys the hell out of me.
