This will be Cynic's second album since 1993. I am immensely looking forward to this album.
Cynic are badass, and I recently found out they did a cover of the song "Meeting of The Spirits" by Mahavishnu Orchestra, I'm hoping this will be on there as a bonus track.
Tell me this doesn't make your music penis splooge uncontrollably
"We've been on an amazing journey discovering this new music and soon it will be yours. Expect the unexpected. The album is an intensely concentrated mosaic of internal and external energies, from the deepest peace to the purest aggression. There's an acquired taste that comes with a record of this density, but once your ears wrap themselves around the language at work, everything falls into place and suddenly you'll feel a sudden urge to sing, scream or maybe even cry. The album has a beginning, middle and end. The story will reveal itself after numerous listens and then you may not want to let go. Besides Reinert and I, Tymon brought some new life force and magic to the record with fierce growling and poetic guitar sensibilities. Malone also did a fine job with the low end, grooving away with Reinert in a pocket land from hell!"
Here's hoping they do a world tour. This will hopefully be my #1 album of the year.

See, that's exactly the same shitty copy that metal labels spew about every new album.
BUT
Coming from a band that has earned the right to be taken seriously when they say things like that, YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
-
Only four days after my birthday. This may be the best news ever.

Hells yeah, there's no way this can't be a masterpiece now that they've got Sean Malone back on bass, his work on the fretless throughout Focus inspired me to learn the entire album and play it over and over again (I've heard "The Eagle Nature" 150 times).
So yeah, be excited. Especially considering the song "Evolutionary Sleeper", and these two new ones (especially the 1st one) :):

Wow, the new demos are kickass. This album is going to rule.
Particularly the death vocals seem a lot easier to listen to on this new stuff, which is awesome. Also as someone commented on youtube, the "robot voice" sounds different as well.

The advances in vocoder technology have been huge, apparently.

Will post thoughts tomorrow.

I have never heard of this band, but the reference to Mahavishnu Orchestra has me intrigued (I'm a huge John McLaughlin fan), so maybe I'll give it a listen.
-
Yeah, they're kinda like if Mahavishnu Orchestra played death metal.
I'm only two songs in, as of this post. This second song is fucking sick.
-
Just found out about the leak, I'll post my thoughts a bit later. I've already heard 3 of the songs so I'm thinking the rest are just as good if not even better.
Also, @ ViolentDove, you'd probably like Sean Malone's other band "Gordian Knot" a lot, its got Bill Bruford from Yes as the drummer on some songs if I'm not mistaken and is very Jazz/Progressive in a similar vein to Mahavishnu. Not to say Cynic isn't as well, but you might like them more if you're not into metal.

Oh dear god, the new album is beautiful. That's about all I can put into comprehensible words now.
