Hi, folks-
Sorry for the shameless plug.... But not all that sorry because, hot damn, I'm excited about the thing I'm plugging. My band, Get Him Eat Him, will be playing at New York's Knitting Factory (http://www.knittingfactory.com (http://www.knittingfactory.com)) this Thursday night, August 28th, with Charles Bissell of the f'ing Wrens. Also performing: The Capstan Shafts, aka Lyndonville, Vermont's Dean Wells, aka my very favorite songwriter of the moment. AND, hey, I'll be playing drums in Dean's band. It's an all-ages show, 8pm, fairly cheap ($10 adv / $12 doors) and it should be a really, really, really good time.
You can listen to some Capstan Shafts stuff here: http://www.myspace.com/capstanshafts (http://www.myspace.com/capstanshafts)
And hear my favorite song of theirs here: http://indiepages.com/capstanshafts/sounds/sleepcure.mp3 (http://indiepages.com/capstanshafts/sounds/sleepcure.mp3)
A bunch of songs by my band, including our cover of "More Lovely Than Likely" by the Capstan Shafts, are up at our myspace: http://www.myspace.com/gethimeathim (http://www.myspace.com/gethimeathim)
I'd be happy to send anyone any additional songs by my band, or by The Capstan Shafts (Dean has released about a bajillion albums, most of which are almost impossible to track down).
Hope to see some of y'alls there!!

Tommy I can't actually imagine you winking, like, ever.
Anyways, New Yorkers, seriously go see this show. Get Him Eat Him are really awesome.
-
Wait, wait, wait, you're in Get Him, Eat Him?!? You guys are awesome! I'm going to try to make it to that show.
-
I'll try as well! I think my Thursday's free.
-
Also, The Wrens are phenomenal. I saw them a couple years ago and it was really, seriously awesome. In other words, I'm sure even the solo set will be really great.
-
Hey, thanks everybody!
If anybody from the board makes it out, definitely say hi!
-
"The f'ing wrens" is right! If you can, ask Charles how the new record is (supposedly) coming along. :D
-
How many years has it been now?
-
I know Charles has been down in Jersey a lot setting up to record, AND I know that Kevin has recorded 100 or so demos in the last year, so things are definitely moving along, if at a characteristically Wrensian pace.

if I was anywhere near new york, I'd go, I love both The Wrens and Capstan Shafts, I'll have to check out Get Him, Eat Him
