OK ok ok, I knoooooooow this prolly isn't the place to talk about an electro band like Ladytron, but the comic is partly about musics and it's more popular than it wants to admit, so I figure .. what the heck.
Have you heard? Weebl's Stuff ( http://weebls-stuff.com/ (http://weebls-stuff.com/)) has been ordered to take down their parody of Ladytron's music video "Destroy Everything You Touch". WTF? That makes no sense. It's got a link to their site (http://ladytron.nettwerk.com (http://ladytron.nettwerk.com)) , it keeps the fans humming that tune and keeps the band on people's lips. It's what's called free publicity via parody, and this parody doesn't make them look bad or devalue them in any kind of way.
According to Weebl, the guy who ordered them to take it down is their manager, "Tim," so I don't think the band even knows the parody existed (remember U2 and Negitivland?).
Is it me or are we living on crazyplanet?

I guess.
Your first paragraph confuses me though. Ladytron is pretty awesome! We love Ladytron! or something

You lose, better luck next time.

I quite like Ladytron. This doesn't bother me in the slightest, however.

That's kind of a shame, 'cause fan videos like that really can introduce bands to different audiences. Hell, I can personally say that I wouldn't have checked out mclusky if I hadn't bee exposed to "Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues" by the sweary kittens (http://www.rathergood.com/lightsabre/) animation, and I've been an ardent supporter of mclusky and FotL ever since.

We're not exactly a bunch of music fascists around here, and Ladytron's Witching Hour deservedly made one of Jeph's best of the year lists back in '05 as well. Your only faux pas was openly fearing our wrath.
Edited because I thought Witching Hour came out in '06 for some dumb ass reason.

Still, bands who have managers - Hilarious!
Hmm. Depends what you're after, I guess. Epstein may have got The Beatles bad deals - but he got them deals in the first place. Would they have done as well without him? I dunno.

Yes, but that was in an era where it was pretty near impossible to get somewhere without a manager. Nowadays, there are so many resources, venues, numbers to call, people to talk to, etc. that it's honestly much cheaper and more reasonable and less silly to just book the tour yourself.

Further news on the Ladytron drama.
It seems more likely now that the original emails regarding the Destroy video were not from Tim (Ladytron's manager) at all but someone pretending to be him. Please do not email anyone at Ladytron about this matter. I'm trying to get to the bottom of this with Tim who has been nothing but pleasant in our actual emails.

My experience in/with bands on and off for the past five years is that having a manager still helps immensely for getting gigs. This is in Australia, though.
