I honestly would love to see a "The South Will Rock Again" tour featuring bands like DBT, My Morning Jacket, Uncle Tupelo, old Wilco, Neil Young, Little Feat, Cowboy Junkies, etc. Giant gallon hats would be distributed along with massive amounts of whiskey. Sorry, no Kings of Leon, Ryan Adams, or freebird covers allowed.
I imagine the poster to look something like this:

I just want to see Radiohead, Muse and My Morning Jacket before I die. And MuteMath, even though I've already seen them a few times. So I guess I'd just lump those all together even though they don't really fit.
-
Hmm... CoC, Down, Black Label Society, and Clutch touring together. No idea what it would be called, but it would be awesome.
-
Fleet Foxes sound like they should be from the South, so they should be on this tour.
-
Same with all the ones I listed except for BLS. Down and CoC are from NOLA and North Carolina, Clutch is from Maryland, which is the south if you are in the north, but the north if you are in the south.
-
Well, I kinda said that because they're from Seattle
-
Ah, okay.
So, so far most of us just want to see the first one, but with more bands, and they don't actually have to be from the south?
-
The Slowest Bands Tour (Low, Codeine, Bedhead/The New Year, Red House Painters, etc.) [They walk to each tour date and finish crossing the Continental USA in two years]
The "Every Band on Decaydance Records Play Shows In A Fucking Volcano and die at the first date, pussies" Tour
The "Same Deal As The Last One, Except It's All The Bands The NME Hawks" Tour (Arctic Monkeys, Scouting For Girls, The Wombats... fuck if I continue this list it's going to go on forever)
The "NOW GET IN THE GROUND" Bad Modern Old Und New Prog Band Tour (Coheed and Cambria, Muse, The Mars Volta, Rush)*
Tommydski ATP
*There are probably some people around for whom this idea would generate massive hardons
-
Wait... when the hell did rush start counting as modern again? Is it because their recent stuff is bad you are including them?
-

I would go to this. I would bring a blankie.
-
I just don't like Rush.
Hah.
To be fair, I should probably remove them from the tour, but you know... it'd be like the granddad and the kids going out to go fishing, or in this case, go WIDDILY WIDDILY WOO SKRONK WIDDILY WOO on guitars. I guess it needs a better term to justify Rush being with the nu crop.
-
I would go to this. I would bring a blankie.
I would snuggle with you and your blankie.
Someday we will be gig buddies and it will be The Greatest Thing.
-
I just don't like Rush.
*Looks at my avy* I don't think we'd see eye to eye on this matter for some reason.
Anyway, I would love to see The Ultimate Prog Tour of Past and Present (Time Machine Not Available for Public Use) featuring bands like Coheed and Cambria, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Rush, Queen, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Genesis, Queensryche, Opeth, King's X, Conception, Liquid Tension Experiment, Pink Floyd, among others.
-
Heh. To each their own regarding Rush.
If I'd be allowed to only go to the parts of that tour involving Queen and Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd I'd be down.
-
Heh. To each their own regarding Rush.
Well, to be fair, I agree that Muse should just go jump in a hole and die.
-
Tommydski ATP
I'd see this. tommy, potential lineup plz?
I was just thinking last nigh, after Johnny was all "woo i saw Baroness woo" and I was all "fuck you man" that the best chance Australia has of getting Baroness in this country is if Relapse Records put together a tour and sent down a bunch of bands that otherwise wouldn't be able to come down. So how about:
High On Fire
Pig Destroyer (who to be fair, have toured Australia and are back end of next month)
Baroness
Genghis Tron
Don Caballero
Coliseum
Maybe with Mastodon or Necrophagist or the DEP to pull in some bigger crowds. Oh and Alchemist representing for local talent.
-
CoC
I do not know who this band is, but given my habit of reading acronyms as if they were words they will forever be "Cock" to me.
-
Corrosion of Conformity, Harry
-
I think maybe Crowbar should get added to my list, too. Course, CoC, Crowbar, and Down couldn't play at the same time, seeing as Down has the singers of the other two.
-
I'd want to see a kind of vocalist's showcase tour. Faith No More, Glassjaw and Queen (w/ Freddie Mercury, that is, since we're fantasising) in one night.
-
Corrosion of Conformity, Harry
Sorry Dovey, they're Cock now.
-
You missed it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Tomorrow's_Parties_Festival_lineups#UK_2002_-_curated_by_Shellac).
I had the feeling you were gonna say the Shellac ATP. Worth a shot, anyway.

Go on tour with Johnny's band as a roadie and I'll be there when they come to Guelph.
-
when are they coming to Guelph?
-
I don't know if they are yet. Johnny made a thread (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,21018.0.html) awhile back saying his band might be touring. Guelph was one of the possible stops in Ontario.
Edit: Oh, you posted in that thread.

My ATP:
Hawkwind (with former members), Coil (reunited with Marc Almond on vocals), Current 93, Kraftwerk, Sol Invictus, Silver Apples, The Meads of Asphodel, Agalloch, Bauhaus, Ulver, My Dying Bride, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Strawbs, The Coffinshakers, Andrew King, Gary Numan, New Model Army, The Creatures, Diamanda Galas, Lumsk, Electric Wizard, Death in June, Alien Sex Fiend, The Bombs of Enduring Freedom, Xasthur, Of the Wand and the Moon, Skindred, The Legendary Pink Dots, Manorexia, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, The Threshold Houseboys Choir, Anaal Nathrakh, Boyd Rice & Friends, In Gowan Ring, Strawberry Switchblade (one-off reunion), Lustmord (one-off live show)
I'm not sure who else would come, and the bands would probably end up killing each other, but I would have a fucking BLAST.
-
If this is including defunct band then:
Jimi Hendrix, The Olivia Tremor Control, Neutral Milk Hotel, Pavement, Guided by Voices, The Beatles, Neil Young

I would kill pay a good amount of money to see that show. Will Jhon(n) Balance be resurrected for Coil, or would Marc simply take over? Can the show end with some crazy-ass collaboration of Coil/C93/DiJ/NoN/everyone else who's ever been associated with the England's Hidden Reverse scene? (I guess you'd have to worry such a performance might immanentize the eschaton, though.)

I'd see that, especially if Beulah was added onto the bill.

I wish I could, but there is no way I am going to miss that much school. Now, if they moved it to the summer I would totally be on that.
-
I completely forgot you live in Guelph. That is like my second home. It is a crime that I have been to your town and never bought you a drink.
Next time I am there, you can kick my ass for me. I'm not asking, I'm telling here.
I've never kicked anyone's ass before. I think maybe we should incite an old timey bar brawl, people all breakin' chairs and billiards cues and draggin' each other across the bar.

You missed it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Tomorrow's_Parties_Festival_lineups#UK_2002_-_curated_by_Shellac).

They should take all the feedback/loud/experimental bands (Sunn O)), MBV, Animal Collective, Mogwai, etc) into a "Winning Everything with a Wall of Noise" Tour (We.WON Tour). Essentially, you hook them up to those giant speakers the police use to drive hostage takers out from buildings and hook them up to a bunch of military vehicles. Then you rock out with sandy cock out. I figure this is a lot cheaper than whatever "sonic bullet" program the government had in place.
Alternatively, this tour outfit could be contracted for protests on capital hill. CDs from the tour will be sold as an audio colonic.
-
The "Get Deaf" Tour:
Openers:
Cloudkicker
Dragonforce
The Devin Townsend Band
Headliner:
Dream Theater
The "Borrowed Solace of the Quiescent City" Tour

The "Macbook Turntables" Tour

I was imagining with bands that are actually possible, so Almond takes over from Jhonn (he's the only person who could). There's already been something close to what you described as a show ender. This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP8JUf6vxCQ) iteration of Current 93 from a performance on the Since Yesterday VHS actually consists of Dave Tibet, Douglas Pearce, Tony Wakeford and Rose McDowell. Add Boyd Rice, Thighpaulsandra and Andrew King (who would also be there of course) and...

math, post, freak folk and twee.
explosions in the sky

animal collective

CONTRADICTIONS FTW
also, for the hell of it, the best tour ever:
low
dragonforce
END
also i would kill to go to the "slow" tour with low/red house painters et. al
-
There are way too many, but man I would love to see deftones and incubus at the same time.
-
Michael, you should come to Chicagocon next summer and we will find a gig there. Maybe we will luck out and low will be playing and there will be a blankie and cuddles involved.
-
I was looking through the thread for that earlier. I've been wanting to go to Chicago for quite awhile.
Guess I'm gonna have to buy a piggy bank.
-
Man I guess. Start saving! It can be done cheaply, I accomplished Tronnocon for $300.

My ATP:
Don't Look Back series:
* A Tribe Called Quest performing The Low End Theory
* UNKLE and DJ Shadow performing Psyence Fiction
* Royksopp performing Melody AM
Portishead, Tom Waits, Belle and Sebastian, Interpol, Thievery Corporation, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Air, The Postal Service, Cat Power, Tricky, Everything But The Girl, The Shins, Blonde Redhead, Iron and Wine, Amon Tobin, Kid Koala, Ricardo Villalobos, Dan the Automator, Burial, Nightmares on Wax, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, Daedelus, Ulrich Schnauss, Fila Brazilia, The Album Leaf, Weekend Players, Flying Lotus, Nortec Collective, I Am Robot and Proud
-
I think they should hold a festival where every artist is also in Broken Social Scene.
Alsthough they might have a tough time deciding if the headliner is BSS or Feist.
-
My Don't Look Back series would look like this:
*Teenage Fanclub performing A Catholic Education and Bandwagonesque back-to-back
*Polvo performing Exploded Drawing
*Boards of Canada performing Music Has The Right To Children
*Blur (or at this point Graham Coxon with any douchebag with a Cockney accent) performing Parklife
-
Noise group super tour ahoy! (this would be a small tour in that they would play like all day but only in a few places since moving that many people around it tough). Maybe this is more of a festival actually.

I would see that tour. Prog is so ridiculous. but I just love it. I guess it's because I was brought up learning music theory for most of my life, so I love the polyrhythms and odd time-signatures.
