Title: The Cartoon Museum (London)
Post by: Hljómalind on 12 Oct 2008, 08:28
This is probably a long shot as most of QC's audience, I would imagine, lives in North America, but I was wondering whether anyone here had been to the London Cartoon Museum (including their current Beano and Dandy exhibition, which gets a good write-up in TimeOut (http://www.timeout.com/london/museums-attractions/events/781763/beano_and_dandy_birthday_bash.html))? If so, would you recommend it? I don't have oceans of free time, but now I'm around the Russell Square area a bit more regularly I thought it might be worth checking - but don't want to waste time/money if it turns out to be a bust.

I had a friend who used to work there. He got his copy of "The Killing Joke" signed by Alan Moore 'cause they have visiting artists all the time. It's definitely worth a trip if you appreciate the broad spectrum of British cartoons and comics, but don't expect stumbling upon any rare Eisner gems as I'm pretty sure it's strictly U.K. artists and authors, but don't quote me on that. Admittedly it can be kinda boring, unless caricatures of the queen and Regency era cartoons about colonialism is what gets you going(and you thought modern British humor was dry...).
