The Bioware KOTOR MMO.

Meh, says I.
-
All I really want is KotOR 3.
Why do you do this to me, BioWare?
-
I won't comment until I actually see gameplay footage and/or get into the beta. And I better see some good quest design. I have not been able to stick to a single MMO because I don't care about the quests (Age of Conan sort of did this and then kind of stopped, conveniently after I paid for the next month's subscription).
-
Meh to the 2nd power
Is there a difference between this and Star Wars Galaxies?
On another note, there is a star trek mmo in the works.
-
I predict much nerd rage and epic flame wars in the future. A long, unending struggle between two factions:
1. Dudes who rolled Jedi.
2. Dudes who were naive enough to think the Star Wars franchise isn't just about lightsabers.

Same here, all I wanted was Bioware to make a KOTOR 3. Is that too much to ask? And really, how is this going to be different then Galaxies? Does Star Wars really need another MMO?
-
This can't suck any worse than post-patch Galaxies.
-
By the looks of the design, it's so silly many people might actually like it! =D

"ah-ha!" said bioware. "a challenge!"

In the latest issue of Game Informer they talk about this. Apparently right after Lucasarts announced The Old Republic, there was an immediate backlash and people started clamoring for KotOR 3. An exec came forward and said that they are working on KotOR 3 through 10 right now, but because Galaxies is becoming so outdated they needed a new MMO to compete in that market.
At least, I think it was Lucasarts that said that. It was one o' thems high-rankin' companies in the development process.
-
The only part of the development process that Lucasarts has is explaining how to f*** up the canon some more.

No no, they said that there's enough writing going into The Old Republic to fill KOTORs 3-10. Another real KOTOR is about as likely as Warcraft 4.
So it'll be just like KOTOR, but instead of having a party with HK-47 and T3-M3, you have a party with "LoLrevan1989" and "HanShotFirst666"

KotOR 3 through 10
The first one was great, but are ten of them really necessary?
-
Alex, lightsabers and dogfights, you forgot the dogfights.
What I am hoping for here is that bioware will tell lucasarts to shove it when they try to tell bioware what changes to make. Lucasarts had a big hand in the NGE, remember. Kotor might be enough of a pedigree to get them left alone, probably not, but you can hope, right?

The screens don't look awe-inspiring to me. I'd rather have KOTOR 3 than an MMO. And apparently the MMO is set 150 years after KOTOR 2. WTF? 150 years!? (I could be wrong, I read somewhere that it was...Hm...) Not to mention my computer doesn't work for MMOs. I can't play ANYTHING on it.
Speaking of KOTOR, if anyone can get me the dialog transcript for KOTOR 2, I would love you forever. I will give you a big, big hug.
-
KotOR 3? I'd settle for this (http://team-gizka.org/index.html).

actually its 300 years after kotor 1, and don't complain this means that there is still room to make a kotor 3 set between The Sith Lords and the MMO and it wont even need to have a predictable "fill in the blanks between kotor 2 and the start of the MMO" because there will still be around 290 years for the galaxy to get in the screwed up state it will no doubt be in by the start of The Old Republic.
Personally I will probably give this game a go, but I refuse to get my hopes up for it as all the games I have been excited for in the past have been completely underwhelming - I'm looking at you Smash Brothers Brawl, and you Black and White 2
-
I knew it was a century or more.
I wouldn't be able to play this game anyways. None of my computers are MMO-friendly.
-
Since this game takes place a hundred years or two from Kotor 2, I'm hoping this isn't the official kotor 3. I still wish to know where Raven went to.
-
I still wish to know where Raven went to.
I know we haven't seen her in a while, but she still works at Coffee of Doom, doofus. ;)
-
the more i think about it the more I'm glad we're not getting a kotor 3, cos kotor 2 was so shithouse and suffered from a major case of "lets pretend this was a trilogy all along" aka Pirates of the Caribbean syndrome that I think it's probably best if we just forgot about it all together.
-
That's probably because KOTOR 2 was made by a different company.

Ahhh. I meant Revan.
-
It was probably because KOTOR 2 was never really properly finished due to Lucas Arts demanding a ridiculously short development window while Obsidian set their sights too high. KOTOR2 is exactly what you get when you demand a product be released before Christmas, consequences be damned.
As it is, I liked the majority of KOTOR 2 better than the majority of KOTOR 1, bugginess and let down ending aside.

I know. Hence the wink.
Still. Kotor 2 was pretty damn good. It was buggy as hell and obviously unfinished (hell, try as you might, you couldn't change the ending). Hence the folks over at team gizka (http://team-gizka.org/index.html) are trying their best to fix it. For free.
I don't expect much from this new MMO. LucasArts hasn't impressed me of late. Once upon a time, perhaps, they might have cared about quality of product. Lately? Not so much.

This is a Bioware game, I can't really see it being anything less than good.
