So I really feel like this is a band I should listen to. I hear about them constantly on this forum and I love drone and dark ambient stuff in general. Basically I want to listen to these guys but I need your help! Can you tell me the two or three best albums to start with so I can check them out? Any other artist recommendations in this genre would be cool as well.

I too have been meaning to get into them. I like Candlemass, Kyuss, and Black Sabbath, will I like Sun O))) ?

As albums go, I am a big fan of Flight of the Behemoth, White 1, and I am quite liking the new live record, Dømkirke.  I'd go with Flight first. Also, if you have any interest in Sunn O))), you should probably look into Earth and Melvins.  Also also, if you like Candlemass, Kyuss and Black Sabbath, you may well like Sunn O))), but it's not a guarantee. You have to know what you're getting into. While those three bands can be seriously heavy heavy metal, Sunn O)) are all heavy, and practically no metal. BUT! If you like all those bands, you have to like one of Greg Anderson's other projects, Goatsnake. It's like a rule or something. You shouldn't break rules. Hope I help some.

Sunn 0))) are good, but by no means the best 'drone' act around. I much prefer early boris, earth, and Wormphlegm and Khanate if they count as drone.

I second the recommendation of White 1. It's my favorite from them, I think.

Cut your teeth on Earth first.  You probably won't be able to get into SUNN0))) if you can't get into Earth.

Goatsnake is awesome.

If you ever get a chance to see SUNN0))) live, do it.  It's an ordeal but it's worth it.

I already like Earth. They're pretty excellent and I've heard nothing but positive things about sunO))) from other Earth fans. Partially the reason I decided to give them a try in  fact. I've heard mixed things about them live but I might actually have an opportunity to see them in the near future. If I can do it without spending much money then I probably will. After I invest in earplugs, that is.

I quite like Black One and OO Void, I personally recommend the former over the latter. I'm seeing them in February. On a boat. I'm not sure if it'll still be floating by the end.  8-)

Try their collaboration with Boris, "Altar". A great album.

That's one of the only things Boris have ever done that I haven't liked.
