So I was playing this Stone Soup game that Troll linked the other day, and as I was playing it I got this strange sense of familiarity, like I'd seen the game before. I remembered an old game I used to play. It was on my Macintosh computer, back in '95 or '96. It was like Stone Soup, but it was a sci-fi game instead of a fantasy game.
I reminisced about it in Meebly, and I was wracking my brain about it, when Spluff, bless his soul, googles "sci-fi Macintosh roguelike" or the like, and he comes up with this game, Jaunttrooper Mission:Thunderbolt. Lo and behold, it is the game I remember. Fire your pellet gun at that blob over there! Watch out for giant spiders! Die constantly! Oh, the good times.
Anyway, I thought I'd share this old, old favorite of mine. It should work on any Windows computer (it works on my XP machine) The interface is actually pretty good, it being a professionally made game back in the day.

Included in the .rar is a Readme.nfo. Open it in wordpad or the like. This game came with one of those hella old-school DRM schemes that relied on a printed sheet that came with the game. The nfo file has the different symbols along with their respective passwords. You will be required to enter a password the first time you start the game. Enjoy!

Note to self - don't eat the black pills. They are cyanide.

I'm getting that game now.
Once my old hard drive works again, I should mediaf!re some of my old gems, too.
Abandonware rocks.
-
I tried to open the readme.nfo, but it said the file was corrupt :?
Any help? I can't play without entering the security code.
I loved this game, but lost it a long time ago, and reading your post refreshed my memory! Would love to play this again!
Thanks!
Edit: Nevermind, I opened it with a notepad, and now I can read it.

Oh Emm Gee.
This game deserves hardcore-ification.

This is the best game ever and I would love to play it again. The link you posted is not working for me. Anyone have any ideas?
-
You have to change the ! to i in the link. Should work.

I feel quite silly for asking this. But once I extract the download file, I get 5 folders labeled as "Disk #" and the NFO file. I had no trouble with the NFO, but how do you install/start the game? All the .exe files I find just give "Not compatible with the version of Windows you are running." And yes, I've played with the compatibility settings.
-
Which version of Windows are you running? It works fine on both my Vista laptop and XP desktop.
-
Just standard Vista. Maybe I am not clicking the right files? :?
