Title: Recommendations?
Post by: estabrookette on 28 Jan 2009, 08:03
I'm looking for some good music recommendations!  I'm getting ready to run a half-marathon, and I need some upbeat music that'll keep me entertained for a few hours (six days a week, so it can't be too boring) and give my feet something fun to run along with (so please no weird meter changes - they make me trip).  Songs, albums, artists, anything you can give me would be AWESOME.

I've found a lot great music by trolling the topics in here (my newest favorite is Maps & Atlases), so I know you guys can come up with some good stuff.  Please help!

Ida Maria (http://www.last.fm/music/Ida+Maria)

Hope you like. "Keep Me Warm" is the slow song.

Why is everyone drooling over Ida Maria? I reviewed a single of hers last year and it was wank on a stick.

I couldn't answer that?

The album, from what I've heard of it, has lost a lot of the energy that was there in the singles. "Queen of the World" kinda sucks now. I'll put together the songs I had and upload them to mediafire.

maybe it's just me, but it seems like Holy Fuck's LP would be pretty good to run to.

Though it might make you want to stop and start headbanging.

Most of the album is pretty consistent mid-tempo thrash metal.

Thank you for the suggestions!  Holy Fuck and Ted Leo are both awesome.  And I can always try headbanging and running at the same time - I'm talented like that.
The biggest problem I'm having is that it feels wrong to be out of step with the beat, so I'm trying to find music that has a tempo I can actually run to.  Most of what I have is either much much too fast, or moon-walk slow.  So thank you to everyone for helping!  Keep 'em coming!

The Thermals!

Some fans made a video to their song Forward that's basically just two dudes in a footrace here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAFuh3E0-Uw

I don't run but I feel like it'd be good Marathon-training music.

Try Matthew Dear's Asa Breed and both of Cut Copy's albums. And Soulwax' Nite Versions. All upbeat stuff with a steady beat, should be awesome running music.
