Less than five days until the sequel to FEAR is released: Project Origin. From Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/16450/):
Deployed just minutes before the blast triggered by the original F.E.A.R. team, you assume the role of Special Forces Sgt. Michael Becket as your routine mission quickly turns into a fight for survival against the wrath of Alma Wade. As Alma's terrifying power surges out of control, your squad is forced to battle through an apocalyptic landscape in search of clues for how to destroy her!
There's a demo available to download, and fuck shit it's intense. The first part called for toilet breaks every ten minutes, this one completely shuts down my parasympathetic nervous system.
Who else has been looking forward to this?

I played it, wasn't too scared. Maybe I shouldn't have played it during the day.
-
It's still not shit-your-pants scary for me, but it did keep me on the edge of the seat. The extras on the website http://www.whatisfear.com/ look very promising, too.

played the demo, wasn't too impressed. kind of bummed because i really liked the first one.
maybe the first one was better, maybe it sucked and i just didn't notice, or maybe this one is exactly like the last one and it didn't stand the test of time. who knows

The first time I played the FEAR 2 demo I was drunk and thought it was absolutely amazing. When I played it again the next day I thought it was pretty good but I lost all interest the second I stepped inside a Mech. I'm going to pick up KZ2 instead.
-
Oh yeah, the bullet time thing is getting old. I don't blame em for trying to mix it up with the mech.

I played the demo, it was pretty boring.

I loved FEAR1 but it felt a lot like the things I enjoyed about the first game have been dumbed down or outright removed for this one. The demo didn't really impress me to any great extent... the atmosphere-building 'scary bits' were great, but the actual core combat itself felt seriously lacking. Maybe because I was still trying to properly use cover and tactically apply the slowmo stuff like I had to in the original, whereas now it seems running and gunning is the order of the day.
Can't see I'll pick it up unless I get chance to play the full thing somewhere else and it radically alters my opinion.

I agree that the combat lacked, but maybe that'll improve in the real game. When I would have died in another game, here my armor just gets depleted and has yet to start draining my health. On 'Hard' difficulty. Critic reviews said FEAR2 is more of the same, so it gets a bit clichéd but still a good game. I'm not spending 50 euros, or 50 dollars for that matter, when it scores lower than an overall 85. Maybe when it gets discounted somewhere along the way.
