So today they officially announced that they are doing a reunion tour.
I have been waiting my entire life for this moment.
"
Hi. We're blink-182. This past week there’ve been a lot of questions about the current status of the band, and we wanted you to hear it straight from us. To put it simply, We're back. We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy.
Summer 2009.
Thanks and get ready... "

I'm not afraid to admit it, this makes me really happy. Blink was one of the most important bands for me during my younger years.
-
I too am very excited about this.
However, as a warning to others, my music-informant friend got me all psyched up with news of a new "New blink album this summer!" and then pointed me to (NSFW) (link removed) (NSWF)
I had to be Johnny Law and remove the link. I know you tagged it and everything, and thanks for that, but there's a rule about porn. Specifically, the rule is "NO." - Inlander
edit: Oh shoot my bad. Thanks for fixing that.
-
nooooooo
-
I imagine the naked tactic would have more shck value now, what with the burns and all.
Actually, my opinion on Blink 182 is the same as it is with Skynyrd: We are even.
-
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Wat.
See above. - Inlander.

um so that would have been an awkward first meet up
tom: oh so my band sucks and your band sucks...i guess i need money so i dont hate you guys anymore
travis: yeah i have to make payments to my ex playboy wife and all these hospital bills and my lawsuit hasn't gone through yet, so i'm in
mark: tom, angels and airwaves? boxcar racer? you're a bitch
-
Holy fuck.
Well, I can't say I saw their last ever UK gig any more, then.
I'm pretty excited. I missed these guys, to be frank. And anyone who hated blink-182, even you must admit that +44 and Anus And Airwaves were even worse.
The guy next to me is being a cock about them, though. But then, who could blame him?
-
Fun fact: I almost bought a Tom Delonge Stratocaster on two different occasions (one was a daphne blue Fender and the other a surf green Squier).
-
I have to say, it's the only Strat I've ever liked. It has volume, and a nice 'bucker. What's not to love?
-
Plus it's a hardtail Strat.
I kind of wish I had, they're straightforward as all get out and I love simplicity in guitars.
-
And anyone who hated blink-182, even you must admit that +44 and Anus And Airwaves were even worse.
Oh man, yes they were.
-
"Josie" came on the nightlife at work the other night and I remembered why I was so into these guys when I was 14, I have actually downloaded that song and put it in my music library because I will probably want to listen to it again for remembering good times.
It is 2.40 am and I can't sleep so I am actually trawling around trying to figure out if there are any other good Blink 182 songs, I am sure they must exist. I remember having good memories of "Aliens Exist" but I just youtubed it and man that song is dogshit.
Oh no I am talking about Blink 182
-
Since I haven't really listened to a Blink 182 album since Enema of the state because I turned 15, I have decided to trawl their later albums on youtube and see if I can find any songs from them I like.
So far I have decided that I really like Rock Show which seems to indicate that I mostly just like their kind of lame punk rock love songs that doesn't switch up the tempo whenever they fucking feel like it
Hahahahah woah they are smashing a TV they paid money for in this video up the punx
oh shit NOW THEY ARE POURING BEER ON IT.
I am not going to lie, it makes a lot of sense that I loved these guys when I was a kid.
The guitarists slow motion run near the end of the clip for Josie is also the best run I have ever seen in my life.
-

This is actually a pretty good argument if you meet anyone who doesn't like At the Drive In, as well.
-
Well, Angels and Airwaves were at least entertainingly ridiculous (You're making your album into a movie? Set in World War Two and ALSO the Future? Right, ok). +44 were indeed one of the worst things I've ever heard so good call there.
I liked some Blink 182 records when I was 14. I am no longer 14. *shrugs*
Bet they're new album isn't as bad as the new Green Day though
-
Better than Green Day you say?
ooooooooooooooh man!
-
Oh man, I really wish they would leave the past in the past. Enema of the State and the albums before that were so big in my life when I was younger. They were like the essence of high school, i.e. dirty jokes, getting drunk with friends, girl troubles, and parents getting angry at you. I still even listen to their older stuff every now and then when I'm driving on the interstate and feel like screaming something fun. Now, they're too old to do that kind of stuff and play fun pop punk. All they're going to do is make another shitty album like the self-titled. Let my fond memories remain.
-
Oh, yeah, new Green Day. I forgot they did that thing with all the politics in it. Ugh.
Reminds me of when I would come home from school and get scared shitless because I'd forgotten that my mom had that perm done.
-
Can we re rail this back away from the Green Day rail which is all old and rusty and will lead us off a cliff and we'll all die if we keep going on the green day rail.
-
i am incredably excited for this. i still listen to blink. they're fun as shit, and if you don't think about it too much, it will still be fun.
-
I'm fortunate enough to like all the different kinds of music this band makes, and they were the last on my list of bands that I wanted to see in High School.
I've also stated very publicly that there are internal organs I'd happily remove if it brought me a step closer to getting to this Reunion tour.
-
hello thread. thank you for reminding me of all the shitty pop punk that i was obsessed with in high school. i forgot boxcar racer even existed and i am torrenting it right now.
like other people have pointed out blink 182 is wonderful for the nostalgia factor. i would gladly shell out money for tickets and go to their show with all my old high school friends. and i probably will.
-

On the otherhand, wooooo Blink! Im stoked.
-
Mars Volta? Boring. SPARTA is the band that sucks so hard I am trying to will them out of existence. I still have hope that the Volta could get better.
-
While SPARTA's blatant and miserably failed grab for mainstream fame is much more disgraceful, I'd say in actual output the Mars Volta are by far the worst.
-

Unfortunately I moved away from where I did my year 8-10 highschool where the blink (among even worse bands) were played and times were good. So unfortunately this isn't an option for me. Otherwise, though, I'd do exactly the same thing.
Edit: Also, Mark's vocals remind me of the Jesu vocals for some reason. I might just close my eyes and try to imagine Broadrick decided to do a whole album along the likes of "Star".
-
I never really liked Blink-182. Maybe it's because I was already 17 when they hit the mainstream and I had never even really liked Green Day or pop punk to begin with.
Or pop music.
Unless it's Hall and Oates.
I met Darryl Hall once, he's a really nice guy.

Dude that was a triple post, you'd better recognize.
