Thanks for skipping anywhere remotely near D.C.!
-
They need to come back to Edinburgh.
Am I the only one that finds it funny that they're skipping a shit load of major cities, but going to Northampton? (No offense Jeph)

I do not like Mogwai.
-
Seeing them in March; pretty psyched.
-
Hey Mogwai, way to forget Northern California.
-
I only posted the North American dates, they are also playing some in Australia and Europe before these.

I stand correctedThursday, 20th July - The Metro, Sydney
Friday, 21st July - The Zoo, Brisbane
Saturday, 22nd July - Splendour in the Grass
Tuesday, 25th July - Corner Hotel, Melbourne
Hey, wait a second...

"Adelaide"
Well fuck that then.
Man, nobody comes to Adelaide unless they're forced to. And then they play in a venue far too small that sells out in an hour (or, fifteen minutes in the case of Kings of Leon). And then they yell out "Thank you Melbourne!" (if they're terrible band Jet).
-
Guess I'll try to see them in Philly. The Troc is a decent sized venue, certainly not too big anyway. I'm a little bummed b/c last time they came to Philly they played the Starlight Ballroom and I missed the show for some reason. It would have been awesome since the Starlight is pretty intimate, compared to most of the place they're playing now.
-
Isn't Jet from Australia? How did they fuck that up?
-
What you need to understand is that Adelaide is an awful, awful place. They were probably trying to pretend they were in Melbourne.

Tip for Perth/Adelaide peoples: It's really not that bad, honestly. I used to live in Darwin. No one -at all- ever goes there. The 3 years I lived there, we didn't get a single act of any note whatsoever.
-
They're playing in Perth.

That's not a tip. That's just making myself feel better that, even with shitty music scene aside, I don't live in Darwin.
-
Man Philly is having some excellent shows coming up! So much win!
-
Good to hear that Bulloch is doing better
-
As much as I want to, I probably won't go to either the Boston or Northampton shows.

roughly a 7 minute walk from my house, yes!

Ctrl + F... "Flo-"... Oh.
-
Fuck yeah, Michigan date. Although - Pontiac? REALLY? Hope their shit doesn't get stolen. Or mine, actually.
-
Proven fact: Post rock bands hate the Midwest.
-
Followed by Ghosts (http://www.myspace.com/followedbyghosts) is your new favorite band.
-
Actually, that would be true for most bands on the Mylene Sheath label. Many of the bands are from Illinois, Ohio and more! A lot of great stuff too.
-
05-16 Los Angeles, CA - Orpheum Theatre
fuck yeah.
-
Sweet, they're playing near me.
I may have to rob hobos to get the money up again.
-
I can haz setlist? :D
-
No You Don't Know Jesus?
weak
-
But Ex-Cowboy is in there. That's pretty sweet.
-
I did notice that! That impressed me. But the lack of You Don't Know Jesus is kind of shameful.
-
Tuesdays show in Brisbane apparently went like this:
The Precipice
Friend of the Night
Scotland’s Shame
Hunted By A Freak
Mogwai Fear Satan
I Know You Are But What Am I
I Love You, I’m Gonna Blow Up Your School
I’m Jim Morrison, I’m Dead
Thank You Space Expert
2 Rights Make 1 Wrong
Like Herod
Bat Cat
New Paths to Helicon Part 1
We’re No Here
-
I Know You Are But What Am I
Oh man, lucky!
-
Yay. Good to see they're mixing up the setlist every night :D
-
No Arizona dates? Weak.
-
No one lives there
-
Awesome. No Oregon dates.
-
Just got back from the Perth show and it was pretty great.
I was less than a metre or so away from the band.

HOLY FUCKBALLS
MOGWAI = BEST LIVE BAND EVER <333333333333333333333333
No idea what their setlist was (songs I recognised: 2 Wrongs, Friend of the Night, Batcat, like Herod, Jim Morrison, Space Expert, I Know You Are) but man, it was so entertaining and so massively rocking. I always thought these guys were a bit tame on record, to be honest, but they were just so freaking huge! Epic clean parts, huge walls of noise and massive riffing. Watching them kick all of their distortion pedals on at once in Like Herod.. wow! HUGE. And then the riffs of Batcat. Unfortunately most of the sedate perth crowd wasn't as keen to headbang and get all loose as I was, but whatever. Amazing gig, far better then I expected.
Also: nowhere near as loud as I'd thought? I was expecting some brutal volume, but it really wasn't too bad.
Retro: I was front row, too. Where were you? I was pretty much straight in front of the bassist; the dude with long blondish hair headbanging rabidly.
-
Heh.
I would've been the dude with the long brown hair, black shirt, black jeans twenty centimetres away from you.
-
Oh man Godinpants, I saw them in Sydney too, I was in the second row sans earplugs and it was amazing! I think that Jim Morrison was perhaps the best thing ever to start with, with the little keyboard bit at the start building into awesome, and the last few notes of Batcat screaming out so hard and then ending in blackness was pretty much the best thing that has ever happened to me.
