Soggy fish rules, :?, its part of the British seaside experience, its as British as you can get, it sums up our summers eloquently, and complete with newspaper, it tastes fine. Especially with seagulls trying to join in.
-
This is of course true; EDIT:
but just what is it doing here?
The best I know is served in Whitstable (Kent), with Whitby (Yorks) a close second. EDIT: To go with the fish I have been offered battered chips in Whitehaven, and excellent battered mushy peas in Winchester.

The best I had was from a vendor at the market in Camden. Soggy fish and soggy chips wrapped up in yesterdays paper. Mmmmm.
No mushy peas though, thank god!
-
You British people and the things you put in your mouths
-
Fish and Chips is the best damn thing.
Especially back in NZ mmmm
Fresh Fish and Chips with Garlic butter is the best
-
NZ fish and chips is the shiz. Ask for two pounds chips you got enough for a massive feed. Get 2 dollars chips here in England they give you a cupful, what's up with that
-
At my local chippy I ask for a single standard portion to get enough chips for three people.
-
the best fish and chips place ive been was a small shack in Boston.
dont remember the name but it was delicious.
complete with newspaper.
down here in FL we have grouper but it doesnt have the same style as what you limeys are referring to

Stay away from Fish and Chips in Canada. It's super soggy (and WAS frozen.)
However, fresh pickerel and dollar fries...:)
-
They don't do it in the South, but "Scraps", the bits of batter that get left over from the fish, are also fucking lovely.
I reckon Olly's Fish and Chips in Herne Hill near Brixton are probably the best I've ever had. Bloody expensive though.

The Fishery Fish Bar in Stoke Newington, North London is brilliant.
Great range of fish (the guys that own it actually also own the fishmongers opposite!)
If you're feeling particularly flush though you can even get Lobster & Chips!

Yup. And not so far from the very highly rated Faulkner’s on Kingsland Waste, Dalston.
