The new Metric album leaked (check Sordo)!
First impressions are super high so far. Will see how it stands compared to the rest of their catalog in a few days or so.

Well at least it isn't Stars.

Well at least it isn't Stars.
Watch out man Torquil might make a blog post about you.
-
I heard that was fake. Although I could see Torquil being a diva.
...I like Stars though. Does that make me lame?
-
Torquil once told a friend's sister, "Just because you're beautiful doesn't give you the right to be a bitch."
-
Yes, including you Kevin Barnes.
I'm flattered that you would compare me favorably to such a shitbucket as Torquil Campbell.
-
go away kevin

Stars are also pretty good live. Torquil is apparently a trained Shakespearean actor and thus has a pretty commanding stage presence. A jackass to be sure but the guy knows what he's doing.
-
Um okay so about METRIC... I was just listening to the album this morning and the first time I thought it was just 'okay' but the more i listen to it the more it's growing on me. Their only other album I have is 'Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?', and so far I think I still prefer it over Fantasies.
Stars is pretty great too. Forget Torquil. Amy Millan <3

nope, i can't make sense of this
-
So he's an actor: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0132904/
and is indeed a Shakespearean actor and director as well: http://garygoddardagency.com/clients/torquil-campbell (he's played Henry V, Lear's Fool, Romeo and more...craziness)

I don't find it hard to believe. The guy seems like he could be a drama queen.
-
no i mean i don't equate "shakesperean director & actor performing highly melodramatic pop music" with anything but "insufferable"
-
This album is taking over my life today and yesterday
So far:
Old World Undergound > Fantasies > Live It Out
(and I never really listened to Grow Up and Blow Away as an album and I have the 2001 version anyway so I get confused)
-
Grow Up and Blow Away wasn't very good!
-
I reviewed 'Help I'm Alive' and wasn't impressed.
-
This is their best yet.
I love the tracks, "Gold Guns Girls" and "Blindness"
This is a much more aggressive sound for Emily and the band.
I liked the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs CD, but after hearing this.. This is the record that Karen O was trying to make.
I want to see them on this tour.
This is a great CD!
-
All I remember is that their first album has "Raw Sugar". Now that is a goddamn song.
-
this is a pretty fucking rad album
-
i really like grow up and blow away actually, it's my favourite metric album thus far. also the one emily's voice stands out the most on i think. it's a bit of a departure from anything else they've done but i'd say it's worth giving a chance if you enjoy either of the older two albums or the new one.
i'm reluctant to call anything metric has done thus far amazing or mindblowing, but they write good enough songs and emily haines is always pleasant to listen to, so yeah, fantasies is pretty rad.
