YES.

Most of these games I only ever played the first episode of, because of the shareware distribution model my parents would by the first, free game and then not bother with the rest, with the notable exception of the original Duke Nukem.

This is how I played the original commander keen, Good Bye Galaxy, Cosmo and a bunch of other Apogee titles.
