Title: Solved Games
Post by: ChuckChuckRazool on 18 Apr 2009, 12:54
The mention of solved games in a comic reminded me of when my friend Nick and I got a perfect stalemate at checkers. we were both able to advance our pieces forward to meet one another and the game ended in a stalemate with 0 pieces being taken. I just googled "solved game checkers" and apparently we accomplished what super computer AI has been attempting almost non-stop since 1989.

Were you playing with the rule that says you have to jump a checker if the opportunity is there?

I remember playing a game of Connect Four on paper in class, and we got into a perfectly arranged tie of interchanged two-one-two-one, one-two-one-two rows.

This is a bullshit rule in some cases, going off on a tangent... Sometimes you want to set up something sacrificial, but then you are forced to do a move, which will or can screw you in the end.
