It is pretty hard for me to admit this, but I need you, QC forum. I recently lost every single bit of the music I had downloaded and bought in the last two years, due to an incident with apple and time machine and it's all very tragic and I'm bitter about it, so let's not dwell.
But you see, now I have records I want to listen to, that I can't listen to, because they are gone. And I was wondering if you guys could help me? Maybe through mediafire, maybe through whatever, but I'm just really lost right now, and I need some records. I will accept recommendations of stuff you actually think I would like, and also I will probably request some stuff! I hope you guys can find it in your hearts to help me out.
Just off the top of my head, I know I need
Low - All of it.
Cut Copy - Both of them.
The National - The National, Alligator, Boxer, Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers.
Pulp - This is Hardcore, His N Hers, We Love Life
Big Star - Third/Sister Lovers.
Dark Was The Night Compilation
That awesome Merge Records Comp.
Probably I will think of more stuff, and will ask for it in this thread. It is up to you to help me out or not, but I am gonna keep requesting!

It might just be me, but it makes me a bit uncomfortable to see a link to download record like the Dark Was the Night compilation floating around the forums, given that it's a charity record. I'm sure Kieffer/Animal Ghosts has paid for it and stuff (sounds like issues with apple are a serious business) but maybe those links in particular would be best suited for PMs?
I mainly say this because I saw that and thought "Oh hey I wanted to listen to that record" and was about to download it before I realised what I meant was "Oh hey I meant to buy that record".
-
This discussion has been had before, more or less to the decision that if you feel so inclined, buy it. If you want to do something a little less morally sound, download it. However, an online webcomic forum is not the best place to regulate charity.
-
However, if you have the means by which to buy it and you choose to download it instead just to save yourself some money, you're basically a terrible person.
-
if you actually download a charity compilation from this year instead of buying it you have problems man

Yeah, honestly it is so easy to find music through google/mediafire now. I totally feel your pain - I lost my entire music collection a couple years ago and it took me ages to get it all back again. But honestly, anytime I happen to be on the internet and somebody mentions a band I want to listen to I just Google "[band name] mediafire" and there are links to sites where I can download albums among the first few results.
Maybe you should try that first, and then come back here if there are albums you are having a harder time finding? It's going to be time consuming and annoying downloading that stuff either way - Googling each album individually is not going to take a whole lot longer than having people upload stuff just for this thread.

First reaction:
Guys. I Need Help. By Animal Ghosts.
"Oh, hey, he finally admits it."
Sucks to be you. :| I just went out tonight and bought a large package of DVD's to back up my entire music library on because I don't want to end up in your shoes. Sandals. Whatever you wear.
I also went through and calculated that I have illegally downloaded 348 songs in my library, tallying up to a total of 6.5% of my total actual library. I used to think I was a horrible, horrible person for pirating music, but when I look at the actual statistics I realized that I have paid for most of music, and plan to buy the albums I stole someday.
Most of them, anyways. I can't stand Spiderland.

Aw. That's too bad. :D

This post almost certainly makes me a dick but Kieffer how on Earth are you not on oink or what.cd or whatever yet? I figure someone would've kicked an invite your way.
-
Oink is back?
-
Nope.

Waffles or what.cd? I dunno, just never got an invite!
Rockin' out to Jonathan Fire*Eater currently, I don't know why I had never heard of this band before.
If anyone has the 2562 album, Arial, I need that.
-
Yeah sorry I meant Waffles, not oink.
