Nice to see Tai again - she's one of my fav characters in the comic. However, what's up with her glasses? The cat's eye frames she used to have looked a lot better on her than the ones she's wearing on today's (May 6th 2009) strip. Those look like some kind of safety goggles - ugh.
-
They could be her spare glasses

Tai is annoying and one-dimensional. Just figured I throw that out there.

What? How is being a eighty pound exotic looking horny librarian, who drops acid, gets stoned and drunk, chases tail, is smarter than your average --err girl?--, witty, cute, willing to learn new things like rope tricks you can't show mom (unless you're Marten and then only to make sure you got the knots right), wants to be loved and wants to find the right one, but plays loose and wild meanwhile one dimensional?
Predictable? Maybe...but not one dimensional.
She's cute and bouncy like a new puppy. And another potential wedge between marten and his girlfriend...
It's more likely that she'd stray before marten did or try and invite Tai into their bed for a menage...but Marten has to work with Tai and is too honest and a good guy to really consider that.

I think the cat-eye glasses looked better too. hell, Tai looked better- she was rounder, less angular and really sweet. In the last strip she looks a bit too lean... I guess that's where Jeph's aesthetics are heading (I think Dora, Sven and Steve look much better than in previous strips) but Tai is not improving.

It's really callous of us when she so clearly needs relationship advice.

Porn.

Well exactly

Well said.
Keebbles, I hope the only way Dora would 'stray' to Tai is if Dora was recovering from a lobotomy.

The point: you missed it entirely.

Nah. Maybe I was just being snarky...

She is one-dimensional because you can predict everything she'll do. If you wrap all of that stuff up, you get "WOO CRAZY PARTY DRUGLOVING LESBIAN GIRL" which is pretty much what every strip involving her has to do with. I'm not saying she is the only one-dimensional character, the comic is full of them, she is just really explicitly so.
-
I've always found she's pretty two dimensional...
.... cos she's a drawing!
woo

I agree with the Tai-is-a-flat-character premise (and yes, I mean that in the figurative sense of "flat character"). She can be counted on to hit on any and all females and also to put in an occasional reference to acid. That's it. Boring. I wish Marten would find a new job.
-
Give it time folks, from the way Jeph has been adding her in to the cast recently, she may be on the way to being a more important character than she has been up to now.
-
What about that flat Wil character? It's just crazy scheme after crazy scheme with him
-
But that provides for more zaniness and plot development. Tai is a jokes-only character, and generally her dialogue falls into one of a very few categories. Wil at least has an appealing insane streak in him. And "zaniness" was used semi-ironically.
