I am flipping my shit so hard right now. New album already?! Which means more tours?! Which means I might get to see them finally?!
YEAAAAAAAAAAAH

Woah! This is very unexpected considering rumors of a breakup or at least a very long hiatus. Sure it might be a year or so before this is done but still, awesome! Plus we have Riceboy Sleeps and the upcoming mystery Jonsi solo project to tide us over until then. Hooray!
-
God I still haven't even started catching up collecting all the shit they've put out since Takk. These bastaaaaaards.
Upside: if they tour again I will be SO HAPPY if I get to see them. So I hope this is later than this summer, and I hope they play Seattle, 'cause that's the only place I can get to reasonably...
-
Here's hoping it's better then their last album. This is pretty good news though- or rather, extremely good news assuming Meo Suo blah blah was an aberration. Hopefully they drop by Perth so I can see them again.
Wait. "he also describes the music as melodic but much less noisy and more “out there” than previous albums. " Well, that totally sucks. And seriously, how can you get less noisy then their last album?
-
The last album was really noisy! At the least...the first third or so was. Listen to Gobbledigook or however the hell it's spelled. It's a busy, noisy song. I think he means a return to something more minimalist/ambient. Perhaps like the quieter moments of ( ) or something. In any case, I don't think it's coming out until next year since they don't want to and/or can't tour to promote it quickly enough and extensively enough if it comes out this year, which while sad makes sense. In any case, I have high hopes.

You must have a really, really weird definition of noisy.
Quieter moments of () would be rad. Actually a straight out remake of () would be great; progression certainly doesn't always lead to amazing things.

i really liked the last one. gobbledigook was a nice change of pace, i'd like to hear more like that.
-
I think if the last album was put out by any other band, it would have been considered dreadful
-
i listened to Sigur Ros for the first time ever yesterday, coicidentally enough.
it was okay.
-
Being that I love Sigur Ros and thought their last album was absolutely fantastic, the overwhelming response of 'meh' makes me sad.
Oh well, the thought of new Sigur Ros immediately cheers me back up. Hooray!
-
I haven't heard about this right now, I can agree with you that it's pretty exciting. I mean, working on a new album only a year after their last (which I agree was great), Riceboy Sleeps coming up pretty soon, and the possibility of a massive tour. I really can't see too many reasons not to be excited.
Unless of course if you don't like them, but besides that.
-
Dude, Sigur Ros has written twice as many songs than those that have been released officially. I'm surprised scientists haven't conducted tests yet.
-
I'm kinda hoping they stay with this somewhat happy sounding stuff they've been doing lately. I saw Sigur Ros last fall, and the songs from Med Sum thingamajig were OUTSTANDING live. I never expected to be dancing around at a Sigur Ros show.
(that said, they also played a ton of stuff off Agaetis Byrjun, yay)
(also, Jonsi's boyfriend's band Parachutes opened, and they were epic fun. I put their first EP in the Mediafire thread a few months ago, if you guys are interested)
-
Sigur Ros is the best zone-out music. I can't recall actually liking any of Takk... or Med Sud Blah Blah Blah, but I distinctly remember liking their contributions to my day.
-
so erm. This album isn't actually coming out at all. Band have scrapped it and will restart.
In the mean time:

Jonsi solo album. Very happy.
-
Sorry dude, I think you're a little behind the times with this one.
-
Oh man, I got really excited. Then I started to recognise the posts from before. Then I looked at the dates.
-
I love Takk... for a while. Then I kind of just got over it. Unless there's been some massive change since Takk..., like, truly massive, they seem to just kinda do the same thing over and over. Except Takk... was a lot happier than ().

That one after Takk, Med Sud I Eyrum blablah was very different. Waaaaaaaaay happier.
Jonsi's album is pretty awesome as well. It's gonna rock seeing him live.
