Yup, you read it right. If you haven't heard it yet, this summer the MMO D&D online will get an update, which will amongst other things include free gameplay. Of course, paying players will get more content, especially at higher levels, but this still makes the game worth checking out. I guess they've just gone and stolen Runescape's business model, but I'm guessing that this game is at least a little biut cheaper.

So, what do you say? Have any of you played this game before, is anyone playing it now? Is it good? Will you check this one out?

I had fun during the beta, but then when the WoW people came over, a lot of that disappeared. I liked taking my time going through the dungeons, whereas everyone else started running through real fast to get to the loot. It's fun if you play it like a DnD game, but not if you play it like every other MMO where purples are the objective.

I'm very very likely going to be trying this out. Not really any reason not to with it being free and all.
-
The Eberron slant on this makes it interesting for me. I'll be giving it a go.
-
I will probably take a crack at it. I've never really played any games like this before so it should be fun! I'll have to wait for my internet to get connected at my new place before I get started though.
-
Man yeah. If this is free we should give it a shot together. I bought this a while ago to see what it was like, but got sick of there being very little solo content. They have since fixed that up a bit more, but I had already canceled the account by then. If I can reactivate that account on this new free service it'll be pretty cool, else I'll just make a new account.
-
Yeah, we should all get free acounts, and start a QC-forums clan. We could name it HURR.
-
As far as I know, though, it's only gonna be free to play in North America....at first anyways.
-
Oh fuck I hate that shit.
That video sharing site, a lot of youtube videos, games, everything. Hey, fuckers, it's the internet, it can't be that hard to send information over the sea? You know, like I'm doing right now?
:x

Doing things internationally is difficult. There's a lot of negotiation that has to happen with the distributors, content producers, and gummints.
-
America is the best we won't share our shit with you lowlife foreigners!
This is what you meant to say?
-
Well, yes, but the licensing issue is both a good excuse and sometimes true, so we don't hurt those stupid foreigner's feelings and get them bawwwing all over the place.
I played the demo a couple of times, it was a lot of fun, but not enough to pay for. This could be enough to get me to play it. I wonder how much they have expanded since I last played. There is a lot of content that they could add in 3.5, and they have the benefit of several years of people making broken combos, so they know what not to add.
-
Dang. So does that mean US-only filtered by IP and such, or just that they will only supply US servers?
-
Also, making the basic game available for free, then selling new premium adventures in the store seems like a pretty good idea.
-
Yep. Smart bizniz. First get them hooked. But if you want more... you paaaay.
Those crack-related mmorpg puns are really apt.

Looks good enough for my cheap ass.
