Title: Travel Music Recommendations
Post by: myfaceisacity on 18 Jun 2009, 04:07
I totally forgot about this gem of a board until I went through my bookmarks.
I'm going on vacation in a week, there are waaay too many great posts in the Mediaf!re thread, and I need some suggestions.
Post-rock, hip-hop stuff would be ideal.

But I'm open to anything.
Thanks!

it's neither post-rock or hiphop, but if you're about to jet off somewhere sunny, "pleased to meet me" by the replacements would be a good bet.

I wonder how many fans of "The Strange Death Of Liberal England" have read the book (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Strange_Death_of_Liberal_England)...

For travelling, I prefer music that's "flow-y" to match the sense of movement and disconnection. 18th Century music or trance, say... J.S.Bach or Domased perhaps?

So I was browsing this forum and spotted this thread whilst listening to M83's Car Chase Terror!, and I was like, aha!

so my recommendation is M83's Before the Dawn Heals Us.

That would be pretty good. Last time I was travelling I had a lot of fun listening to Cop by Swans while looking at the landscape rolling past, so maybe that would work for you.
