Look Ma, no nipples!
For the past several hours I have been working on an album cover. This is not it, but it is what the main focus of it is:

Now, the top has been cropped off a bit and the sides have been faded to black to fit the actually square dimensions that album artwork is supposed to fit. I've got that done. My problem now is what text to use to write out what I want. I've been trying out a variety of text, but all look a little too...computer pre-set font, do you guys know what I mean? I even spent a few hours writing out the titles and scanning them into the computer to try and put on the cover, but they all looked too...well, unprofessional.
GUYS
I am admitting my ignorance on this! What is a good font I can use that will look good but not look like Arial/Times/Helvetica?
Edit: Okay, I have it down to two options: Should I use Comic Sans or Papyrus? </sarcasm>
Edit2: Christ, nevermind. I'm fantastic at working out my own problems just moments after I ask for help. I swear...

PAPPYRUS DUH COMIC SANS IS FER AMMATERS.
Anyway, I have this problem all the stupid time. It just depends on how you want it to look. Plain text can look good...

So it just depends on what you're going for. But unless you have the tools to, say, incorporate the text as part of the artwork...

You're probably best making the text semi-translucent and drop shadow'd. Then again that can also look really stupid.
I really like that photo though.

See, I have been studying a lot of album artwork and the text involved, and the best ones always seem to be either done by hand or rather simplified ones.
Something like Metallica's logo kind of irks me. I'm a slight bit of a perfectionist, so I am just going through pretty much every font I know of until I run into something I really like.
I'll probably end up going with Georgia, italicized, like I do with everything else. :|
And thank you, the photograph was taken by my father. I have it over my bed.

Just scanning until I find one I like is how I do it, too.
And yeah, that is an awesome picture for an album cover. I would totally believe it was from an LP circa 1974.

Oh dear lord the Celtic fonts!
I am salivating.
But they're all too fancy for what I am looking for! I will download them anyways.

Probably not a lot of help, but the image you posted reminded me of this classic album cover:

It's a really good album. Maybe you should emulate it.

What do you think about moving all the black space to one side? something like this:

or white space:

^^^
Good idea, that lets you keep the original aspect ratio of the picture.

I actually like that a lot and will probably go back and change it to reflect that.

Locked 'cause we've got that other thread for it now, for some reason.
